just got manhatten 8.9" LCD

I'll be shooting outside in direct sunlight today with the monitor. I made a makeshift monitor hood out of poster board and velcro so we'll see how it performs.

Can someone answer me about the sensitivity about tilting the monitor..I want to know if it is just my monitor or the nature of all LCD monitors..Here is the situation. Color, contrast, brightness looks fine when monitor laying flat on my table...Put the monitor in the viewing position on the camera and it becomes much too light. Then need to angle the monitor quite a bit to get it to look nice and rich. This can't be right can it?

I reckon a Benq E2200HD like the one I got would do a heaps better job (off a stand that is) than the small 8.9".

It's only $170US or so, 22inches, with all the inputs/outputs I need. Better, when I get down to the edit stage it's a good 3rd monitor.
Ah, the power adapter is integrated too.

No offence to the Manhatten company, they should be selling these small screens for no more than $50US.

I'm getting sick of companies that claim 'specialties' and charge like royalties for things that are worth a fraction. Take the Litepanels for example, their LP-Micro build quality is no match to a rugged garage style 60LED torch (you might argue with me on the quality of the LED's though) sold at 1/12th the price (and it includes rechargeable batteries and a charger).

Oh well. What a world we live in.

Where did you find it for $170 US?

There are several things wrong with that post. The price does not sound accurate, but he could have purchased it at a fire sale. It also lacks the portability and battery management of the Manhattan LCD. Also, it does not have component inputs. That is the killer. I hope he gets some good use out of that BenQ during a shoot.

I got the 10.9 in. model. It works great. Here's a couple shots of it in action:

is it me or does the screen image look very blue in comparison to the subject?

My guess is that the color balance is different for the subject and LCD. If you look at the LCD monitor it is a match.

I'm sure its not the A version. They haven't produced the B version yet. The parts are coming on Tuesday or Wednesday this week. The B version costs $100 more, but has several additional features including the 1:1 ratio for zooming into HD footage. In which case, you could get even more precise focusing.

Curious. I wonder which version I'm getting. I got the tekkeon battery coming with it too for $667, so I'm not sure if that's A price or B price. I guess I'll know in a couple days.

For the 8.9? I just use a Director's Bag. Many option out there, Petrol, Tom Bihn , Maxpedition, Porta-brace etc... or a cheap aluminum case off of E-bay. I use an aluminum Samsonite briefcase for the 10.9. Don't bother with the fancy "monitor" bags - they' re great for CRT's but not necessary for a camera/stand moutnable LCD

Anyone have a field case solution for this monitor yet?

I just picked this neoprene case up from Best Buy. Fits great. I just wanted something to protect it from slight bumps as I will keep it in my cam bag.

I just checked the MLCD website. I guess the HD089A model is never going to be in stock. The stock ETA reads 2/31/09. ;-)

Hey Home Depot has aluminum cases any day of the week for $19.95 brand new. In the hardware department is where I found them. Nice professional look when you show up on the job with all matching cases. Have them for audio equipment, cables, location monitors, etc. Inside has removable walls that can be custom configured. Line bottom with foam if you wish.

Oh my god!
Today, I have ordered this LCD panel at 2:05:00 PM :crybaby:
Can you help me?

No Problem, I will refund difference.

A note on 1:1 pixelmapping: For example if you feed the monitor 1080p and it was set to 1:1, the monitor will only show the top left 1024x600 pixels of the 1920x1080 image. However, if you send 480p to the monitor, and it was set to 1:1, it would show the 720x480 image in the center of the 1024x600 matrix. But on the 16:9 setting, the monitor will show 480p, 576p, 720p, and 1080p in a 1024x576 (16:9) matrix.
