Just got a new camera - Sony F35

Scarily bang on color/tone/DR wise -- I wish I knew the scientific explanation of why/how the F35 looks "creamy". I wouldn't even attribute it to less resolution because we know that's a garbage explanation. It's just... creamier, and that goes with any compression scheme it seems. Maybe the RGB ccd? Even with zero internal NR the image is smooth.

Well done on the color matching.
I like the first shot in each video. Less apparent fringing, smoother color.
Was the F35 footage recorded to ProRes or DPX 12bit?

If we're guessing again, I'm saying the first clip starts with F35 then goes to Arri - when it switches we see the slight magenta skin tone bias and saturation increase in background primaries.
I prefer the subtler rendition of the Sony.

On the anamorphic comparison I think it's the same camera on both!

Ugh I love senselessly comparing cameras to cars. If the F35 is a 964 the F55 is the GT3 RS. I'd rather drive the 964 any day!

I was on a shoot that had an URSA mini as a B-cam to the F35, and the two later had to be matched. Unfortunately I can't share footage.

The Ursa looked really bad in comparison. Clippy digital highlights and weird colors.

I think there is a tendency when viewing graded, web compressed footage online - to think that all these cameras are more or less equal. That includes now the GH5; there is some nice looking vimeo clips, so why bother lugging a dinosaur around? When you get raw clips on a timeline next to each other it tells a clear story.

Mm. I definitely have seen some very impressive Ursa Mini 4.6k images compared to the 4K version but it still is a bit dslr/ video-ish to me.

Just trying to figure out what backup camera I should get if I can't get my hands the F35. Aha

Yea, it's harsh. It's at best 11/11.5 stops. The 4.6K's DR is much better.

No doubt it's capable of great work, and is definitely loaded with tech (a self refrigerating sensor!). It's probably a lot less noisy than the F35. A shootout would be interesting.
