Just got a new camera - Sony F35

Not such a good choice of words. 4K isn't an "upgrade", that's something only consumers and film students think. And besides getting an Alexa instead, the choice won't be any better image wise unless you just tested something that hasn't come out yet. I really haven't seen anything out there that fools me into thinking it was film besides this and the Alexa, IF treated just right and on a small enough screen and Im sorry but red is a useless company and horrible camera in the end.

And I agree about the Varicam. I played with one for a good while when it came out and it was just another digital looking image. Yeah we all talk about that Pana color but it needs more than that to be exciting, like a CCD maybe? ;)

thanks for reply,

I don't have the unit in front of me, I just want to know if there's some option board I should ask the seller if it is installed. I thought there were 9001 or something series boards for these F35's. I can't remember.

Don't worry Dennis. It's only firmware upgrade no boards. Mine didn't have 12 bit and then I updated firmware and all was good.

I was wondering if I could build a super simple shoulder rig with a Tilta DSLR rig I had at home and eureka!
Not the most solid setup ever but hey it works...

How do you focus that close to your face? EVF's are so much nicer, even bad ones compared to this overly used method these days.

Mac wears sweet +5 diopter sport glasses like this, keeps him stylish and professional:

Thanks DarkMatter, and thanks to MacGregor for shooting it.

It's a bit too much on the warm side but it's a nice variation.

It's de-log, three strip process that brings out colours in a vivid way, then sharpening. Most of the grain there is already there, but I added a bit more in a subtle way.

I love the F35.
