Just got a new camera - Sony F35

Hunter, How do you know the term "lekker"? It's a local South African term, from the Afrikaans speaking people, similar to Dutch.

Mac, I'm also on the idea of Variable Tiffen IRND. If anyone knows if it exists, it might be a good solution.

Does anyone here know where I can get a spare F35 front plate with the PL mount? Ive mailed Otto Nemenz but they don't respond.

Finally after 2 weeks of canceling due to weather, I got a pretty sunset at the beach. Going to go back again this weekend to finish the project (normal Slog LUT, 24mm Zeiss standard speed)

Ok finally have a rig I'm happy with, and the Cinedeck around the waist with its battery, is comfortable and I hardly notice its there.
For these shots I actually used the Cinedeck screen to monitor (although its not ideal, I eventually attached the EVF for the rest of the shoot)

Hi Justin. Thanks for sharing these images, looks really workable. Just two questions if you don't mind. What shoulder pad are you using there, looks perfect, and how are you attaching your v-Loc battery to the rear of the camera? You can see in this pic how I do this with my F3 but want to copy your set up with my F35. Thanks in advance, Sparky

Hunter, Stunning is the right word for those screen grabs!

Sparky, I actually ended up copying Miguel's setup : Lanparte VMS-01 shoulder pad (removed dslr quick release, drilled holes bigger to fit 3/8 screws for F35) Tilta handles.
You see, you want as low a centre of gravity as possible on your shoulder, so the height from shoulder pad to bottom of camera must be minimal, thats why the lanparte is ideal, check how short the distance is between pad and camera.

The V lock battery connects to the IF Box which had a Vlock plate (not sure if thats standard with all F35's, or a custom made from the gear house)

Thanks guys. I'm interested in hearing about your Nikon mount too. Mine still is (hopefully) being made.

First: Hunter. I love those images! Fabulous stuff.

Second: Justin- sweet set up. Looks like mine.
I actually already had the Lanparte V-lock shoulder pad before I even bought my F35. Gotta kinda tear the Lanparte piece apart some to get at it and open things up for the mounting screws and to lower the center of gravity, but overall it was fairly non-destructive work. It's only a $350 piece of kit, so modding a cheap item like that doesn't spook me as much as if I were to hack away at an Arri base plate or something that costs a grand or more. Even so, it's built very well. I'd definitely recommend going the Lanparte or route if anyone wants a simple system that goes on sticks or shoulders without any fuss or changes.

I got a barely used legit Sony v-mount battery plate for the IF box for a decent price (under $200 instead of the retail $380). Solid, flawless, worry free. I have some right angle cables for the Samurai coming this week. The stock cables that come with the kit make me nervous.

I kinda like the handles being up closer to the rails, but I might get some extended ones later. We'll see. I'm thinking about replacing the top handle with a cheese plate attached to the IF connector cover, then putting a third party handle on that, and then finding an alternate way to attach the EVF mount. The top handle is nice, but it makes the cam feel top heavy to me due to its height and girth. But if a third party handle doesn't inspire confidence that it can handle the weight load I'll ditch the idea. Tinkering still....

Here is my handheld rig, its kind of hurting my back so I'm looking into other options ; )

Right now shooting low line like that is still a real pain. Maybe an Easy Rig? I know a lot of operators in the US scoff at the thing, but I can see it being handy for stuff like this. Think I'll try a Hip-Shot before an Easy Rig, though (both for price and klunkiness reasons).

(yes there is a lens on the camera!)

Sure, it's just a c-mount.
