Just got a new camera - Sony F35

@Andrew - Thanks! It was rough the first day running around handheld with the f35, but the second day it was much easier and I didn't fatigue so quickly- Im guessing your body just adjusts over time.

Here is Miguel's WB fix LUT- think it works best for direct sunlight, for interiors your color temp may be cooler if light is bounced in from a window so youll want to warm it up or use a different LUT:

To me, I prefer the warmer look here. I think I'll go between these two LUTs (and the Alexa one, which seems to be punchier for quick grades) depending on the time of day captured.

It's kind of funny that the Alexa LUT in resolve makes the F35 footage look actually better than the Slog LUT developed by Sony. XD

Here you go, this is the Alexa LUT with the F35 WB daylight offset:

And for the hell of it, Accidentally left WB on daylight here, same LUT pushed about 1 stop- but check out how the highlights in the sparklers dont seem to clip:

Daylight Corrected to Tungsten (most cameras cant do this very well unless they shoot raw):

The grain dances around like film in motion : )

Literally signed in to say good job on the LUT, Mac.

Looks like it's very specific to exteriors, and looks great.

Edit: Just sawr Hunter's footage, definitely Hunter's footage. xD Good stuff, Diamond Kap40s for you.

Hey Hunter what rigging are you using for the stuff you are doing with the children? Steadicam for some and gyros for others, mixed with straight handheld?

I just weighed my set up today. Clocked in at 26.2 lbs. with my Red 18-50 zoom, 190wh battery, FF and Samurai

You inspired me to weigh my rig. At its lightest (no MB, no IF box) I'm at 25.6 lbs. That setup feels light and well balanced on my shoulder--I was actually surprised it was that much.

@Sam - yes some Stedicam but mostly handheld. My rig is literally barebones- no rails, no grips, no mattebox, just throw the lenses on with threaded filters and put the body on my shoulder and or hold the top handle shoot- I did get a small custom piece machined to move the Evf more forward and closer to the camera body for handheld. I really wish there was an arri rosette on the dumb side of the camera near the front to accept a grip. I'm still figuring out the best handheld rig, not sure how to approach it.

Just wondering, did you ever find a fix for this?

Hey, I did!
I'm stoopid, is the quick answer but basically I plug the Hyperdeck into the Breakout box and it's fine. I was plugging into the camera. So my guess is that I set the camera OUTS to a format that is not compatible? I haven't completely finished trouble shooting. Just got it working and have been playing around.

Sorry if that's stupid to ask, I mostly just watch docs on Netflix and haven't yet heard of google.

Edit: ok so I found it, Same song in the trailer! I think m83 is the hotness of trailers in 2013, I really love their music. These guys are scoring the piece I'm working on at the moment more folky: http://thesoilandthesun.com/

Hm, don't know exactly. Imagine a box lying one meter below the roof in a loft on the upper floor of a five story building in Copenhagen, Denmark. The building is exposed to the sun pretty much all day. It's not humid.

Probably not the best idea, best to store gear at room temperature I believe and take it out of the case everyonce in a while. If you have any concerns about it being too hot, it might just be best to find an alternative storage place.

Ok finally have a rig I'm happy with, and the Cinedeck around the waist with its battery, is comfortable and I hardly notice its there.
For these shots I actually used the Cinedeck screen to monitor (although its not ideal, I eventually attached the EVF for the rest of the shoot)
