Just got a new camera - Sony F35

This is private so please don't share.

Some shots from a work in progress, strait up raw footage- no LUT. A handful of c300 shots hidden in the mix. Apologies for the bad compression, I wanted a quick upload.

Again Shhhhhhhh!!!!

Thanks Jon! I wish we could use that song but were doing original music. I just wanted to put some shots to music to reference while the music is being composed.

Jusgorilla- no I didn't have the smear reducer on- I should have as it did show up in some shots.

That's some really beautiful footage, Hunter! And lovely kids

Edit: We're slowly but surely filling the web with F35 footage. High time!

Thanks guys! Sam- I'm using a vintage set of zeiss stranded speeds that I rented from "Hunterqual" in this thread. I'm having a Nikon mount made but it isn't done yet. I'll try to upload a few stills with LUT applied tonight when I get home.

I love how this camera produces images- pleasing saturated accurate colors and nails skin tones every time:

Hey Guys,

Having a little problem w/ my cam / hyperdeck and was wondering if anyone has had this same issue before.

I've got my F 35 going to the hyperdeck and am running a Zacuto Viewfinder via HDMI. When I power it all up it says "Unsupported Video Format VFMT00" on the screen of the Zacuto.
I then tried plugging the camera into my Sony TV via HDMI and it says a similar thing (Unsupported signal etc.)

One thing I can do on BOTH the Zacuto and TV is playback from the Hyperdeck. I just can't get it to work w/ the camera.

Anyone have this problem before or have any suggestions?

Just wondering, did you ever find a fix for this?

Impressed with your dedication and speaks to how good this camera is.

Curious about the typical weight of people's rigs here in both handheld and when on tripod, dolly/slider, etc.

I just weighed my set up today. Clocked in at 26.2 lbs. with my Red 18-50 zoom, 190wh battery, FF and Samurai. Add about another 2 pounds when I use a matte box. Happy I managed to keep it under 30. heh. I can see the attraction of putting the batteries and recorder on a belt and running cables when on the shoulder. Might go that road myself.

I'm using the Lanpart V-lock shoulder pad/tripod mounting thing, so it's pretty much the same on sticks or on the shoulder.

Great stuff Hunter. How was handbombing the F35?

Unbelievable how natural the footage is. I can see why this camera was so popular in advertising. Everything in natural light looks "authentic and natural".

So I got this message from Hunter last night:
Do you think maybe there is just a way to build a special LUT to offset the f35 preset daylight vs trying to tweak in camera?

YESSS! Why didn't I try this before???? Of course it's possible. Not only possible but much more convenient, because I'd rather keep the camera in CINE EI than having to mess with WB offsets. So I grabbed those same tests I posted a couple days ago and developed a new LUT for Davinci Resolve based on the previous macgregor Slog LUT posted here. The new one adds a WB offset to get more neutral colors from the daylight preset. This should save a lot of time in post as you can expect. And here it is!

I'd love if you people could give it a try to test if you're getting more neutral colors under the Daylight preset. Hunter, it is your turn now to apply this LUT to your footage.

Ok, I just tried it with some natural light test footage I had (ProRes HQ). Since sunlight varies wildly in temperature depending on time of day, I'll say that this was shot around 3pm.

To me, I prefer the warmer look here. I think I'll go between these two LUTs (and the Alexa one, which seems to be punchier for quick grades) depending on the time of day captured.
