Just got a new camera - Sony F35

On ebay I offered 8k for them - no takers. There is no way they are seeing this via this secret group on dvxuser.com. I think its pride. Because they can't sell them at that price. I want to hear more from Hunter - Hunter - we need screengrabs or someone else.

dying to keep seeing more.

FYI I just chatted with The Camera House in LA about something unrelated, but they have a couple f35s they are going to sell. No crazy prices but maybe in the $12-13k range you can find a good kit?

Kholi- I would have shot footage but I was busy getting diamond pistols and smgs in bo2, now that im
donw with that I can shoot something ; )

I said this a few pages ago, but once the initial supply is gone the prices will be higher. I don't think they are not selling it for less because of pride. I think they are just businessman and they know the cameras are worth even more than 14-18k and if they wait long enough somebody will pop up and buy it at that. I don't think they need to hurry because they hurting for the cash. They are obviously not.

Which is still a terrific deal for this camera.

Certainly. But not for most DVXUsers. The budget here is basically, well, DVX100 budget and whereabouts. :)

Most of those who are in the 14k-18k budget bracket are probably looking at the F5 now. At 12-14k, if I wanted a F35 I would still go for it. But I don't.

I thought seriously about getting one and was close to pulling the trigger. But I decided to go to a rental house that had the camera and play with it first. Well, nice camera and all but honestly has it's trade offs too, like anything else. I didn't feel the trade offs were worth it for me, at least not at this point in time.
Also, anybody buying this camera now has to know that they will be pretty much stuck with it. Unless they sell it now to one of the hyped people in this thread.

Wooh, Andrew Reid sure managed to get a lot of misinformation into this article, but it's still very interesting to see how the used F35's are starting to catch people's attention!

I would say it's mainly because of this thread. I'm sure that guy reads this forum. Actually, it's pretty obvious he hacked some info from this very thread. All these so called bloggers are mainly info hackers anyway. But misinformation is an understatement! His whole post reeks of somebody who has never shot or been involved with anything above a DSLR or prosumer camera production. So many inaccurate details.

My friend, you sound as if you are surprised. =X

What was the final word on using Nikon lenses? Was it modify the mount or an adapter?

Adapters are impossible. Mount swap is the only way.

The bigger question is why buy a real cinema camera which sits at the top of the high-end market to put cheap still lenses in front of it.

A bit like buying a Ferrari and putting the cheapest tires on it.

You'll have to modify the mount if you want to use the lenses at their normal S35 focal lengths. You can get adapters that basically turn the stills lenses into macro lenses, but that's really not a viable solution for most purposes... PL has a longer flange distance than Nikon and Canon mounts, so straight adapters are pretty much impossible to make.

What is the missinformation?

Macgregor,
I know you mentioned how you modded your mount but could you summize it here and maybe pop in a photo?

I want pl glass but wouldn't be able to purchase the number of lenses I would need due to the price. I have very nice Zeiss primes like Adam, and gh2s, but want to make a jump to higher ground. Modding the mount would be a nice compromise until the work pays off.
