Just got a new camera - Sony F35

I thought so.
I always thought, stick on a battery, switch cam on!
but nooooo, find an xlr cable, put on a dtap, and plug it in, then find a neat path for the wire, and when put on a table top, xlr is swished!
i like it much better now. Also more dtaps available now too!

Thanks Jo!
Used the power mod for the first time today. have to say it was a joy, and feels less cluttered.
outta sight, outta mind.

Also to note, powering both the f35 and O7Q with just one battery 190w.
Only used 2 bats the whole day.

and also with the new 7q firmware, shot prores 422 HQ for the 25p stuff, then 10bit 422 dpx for the 50p stuff was also a joy. Never crossed over 1st 512gb drive the whole day.

between the power mod and 7q new firmware, life has gotten much easier.

Certainly a good solution. The Sony battery plate's XLR cable is actually quite nice- 90 degree turn, small, out of the way. But for the aftermarket V-lock mounts I could definitely see this as the way to go.

From a power and ergonomics stand point I'm sure that the Odyssey is probably a LOT easier to work with than the Cinedeck. Still saving my pennies for a O7Q. Some day.

Just a quick question: If you don't use the sony V-mount battery plate, how do you attach the after market plates to the back of the IF box?

Thanks,
Anh Dang.

For the Switronix plate, two of the four screws align, which are the top two.

if you are skeptical about the sturdiness, you can drill holes into the Switronix to get everything aligned perfectly. John "backtoawake" has done the drill mod.

Where you able to test noise levels 25p vs 50p?

Another quick question: What kind of 19mm bridge plates are people using with the F35? The tripod screw holes on the bottom riser plate of the camera is offset (about 16mm to the dumb side) from the optical center of the camera and standard 19mm film plates like the Arri BP-5 and BP-8 make up for that distance. However I've been looking at a lot of 3rd party bridge plates and they all seem to have the screws aligned in the middle between two rods which I think won't be usable with the F35. I can't afford the Arri BP-8 now and the BP-5 is really hard to find.

Thank y'all for your insights :)

I use the BP-5. Chrosziel makes a F35-specific model, cheaper than the Arri BP-8. I think Adorama has it for ~$600 if you don't need the dovetail mount or rods.

Thanks Hunterqual, I also just found out this manufacturer from Netherlands also makes bridge plates and dovetails for Arri-standard cameras and RED cameras for a very reasonable price. I believe I have seen at least one very positive review on the Cinematography.net forum (or REDuser - my memory is blurry now).

Here's the link: http://www.petergosens.com/

I'll try contacting him to get confirmation on his products' compability with the F35, maybe sending him the diagrams of the camera body from the manual too.

So I went ahead and bought the pG bridge plate with the Arri layout and it turned out great! Definitely not won't take as much beating as an Arri's but it's on the level with Zacuto/wooden camera's stuff! And for the price it just worked.

I have a Wooden Camera dovetail shoulder pad but it's too small for the F35 and the foam is too soft under the weight of the camera so it's not at all comfortable. What shoulder pads are people using except for the Lanparte/Tilta stuff? Thanks.
