That looks scary... as hell!

Re: Just a couple Christmas stills

WOW! Great atomosphere. I especially like the last one and the grape shot. Thanks for sharing.

Also, please tell a bit about the settings used during production or post if you don't mind.

Thanks,

Jason

Re: Just a couple Christmas stills

Very nice and very erie. Good stuff.

What's music do you use? Actually, no music might set the mood even more.

Re: Just a couple Christmas stills

I like the last one. Very erie looking. What are you growing there, cucumbers?

Re: Just a couple Christmas stills

The bird shot might have been good had you set your shutter speed to high.
The grape shot was nice....

You need to mention the settings in production, and the correction in post.

Re: Just a couple Christmas stills

Why is there such severe cropping on either side of the image?

Re: Just a couple Christmas stills

These are all actually taken from my backyard in Northern Utah. We've had some severe fog lately and I thought I'd take advantage of it. It worked well for the shot of our grapes. There is not too much color correction on any of the shots; the grape shot was tweaked.I duplicated the grape layer, softened it a bit, upped the blues, and lowered its opacity. The chime frame experienced a similar procedure.

I'm on a DVX100, F5 24p, Detail +1, Chroma 0, Color Temp 0 (this may very slightly with each shot), Ped -5, VDF=Thin

Sorry about the cropping Andy, there were a couple shots in the movie I wanted framed very precisely. I matted it horizontally at the TV safe area with my widescreen matte to insure exactly what would be seen.
Good point on the bird shot food man. It wasn't my favorite grab either, but it was so hard for me to get the birds to fly that I had to show the shot to someone :)

P.K., This is actually part of the opening title sequence of the movie and I just played a little tune on the piano specifically for the movie. I'm not an expert pianist, and I know nothing about recording music, but it allowed me to set the mood I wanted and it worked well in the end.

Thanks for the comments and suggestions,
Keep 'em coming!

Re: Just a couple Christmas stills

I thought I'd add another frame from the same project. This was the most spectacular sky I have ever seen, I rushed with great haste to my DVX when I saw it ;)
The colors were incredible, and even the almighty DVX100 doesn't do them justice. The shot is not framed all that well compositionally, but I thought I'd share it anyway. No color correction.
Enjoy!

Re: Just a couple Christmas stills

good stuff pyriphlegethon...Typing your name and getting it right without an edit....Priceless. Love the sky shot and the vine tunnel or whatever you call it.

Re: Just a couple Christmas stills

Wow, in that sky shot, the sky looks like a render for some reason... cool

Re: Just a couple Christmas stills

Very atmposheric stuff - that will make a brilliant film opener! Well done!
