Joining DVX User and 550D group

I've been reading DVX user for some years on and off now, a couple of years ago Herman Witkam pointed out the website to me.
Since then I've been following on and off.
Now its time to take the step and dive more into film making.

I'm about to buy my first camera (until now I've always rented video camera's).
I will be using the setup mainly for no budget fiction film. But I will do some paid interview/ corporate movies with it as well.

Thinking about getting this setup:
550D
Tokina 11-16mm F2.8
Tamron 17-50mm F 2,8 Di II
Glidetrack shooter SD

Unknown: Tripod & Sound.

I thought about investing in FF lenses, but I think I will stick with digital only lenses.

What do you guys think about the initial setup. It's about the max of my budget, higher is not possible at the moment. Any thoughts on a tripod for such a setup?

BTW: Im also considering throwing out the tamron and get a much cheaper canon 50mm 1.8 instead. But I don't know if Ill be missing the 17-50 zoom?

You need that 50mm 1.8. Not sure if I would take the Tokina over the Tamron though. Cheap and decent tripod for DSLR is the velbon videomate 607 (people will not agree with me). Also I would get a rode VideoMic

I would trade the 11-16 for a 50/1.8 and something longer. Like a 70-200/4. You'll still have money left over. 17mm is decently wide. I'm not sure if 11-16 really be useful for narrative work.
