Jim Jannard at work

Jim at work today...

This is about the only place I know where other guys will marvel at another guy sitting in front of a computer ( well, it is a MAC!) in a cubicle and be utterly captivated because it has an image frame on the screen.

You all are about to fall in love, I think. That's why it's called "Red."

I'm laughing now, cause when I first posted, I had no idea who we were talking about..just this guy with a camera walking across the street. OK, I'm behind on the reading here, but I'll catch up. I thought I was supposed to be saving up for an HVX? This is getting complicated.

Jim-if you don't already have one, I think you'd have fun in photoshop if you had a Wacom pen.

I want to point out how bas As* it is to see Jim sitting there infornt of a 30" with a RED imagine a smoking a Cigar. A man after my own hart. Nothing like enjoying a good cigar with your work. Or pleasure.

I think the cameras should ship with complimentary Graycliffs (red label of course).

So if I hire Jarred to be a cinematographer on one of my projects, and I also need a jib, I get 2 for the price of 1!!

Let me set the record straight.

Jarred is 9' 2" tall (not 9' 3" as he likes to think).

Problem is he only has size 8 feet. So he falls over a lot. I've seen it. It's even worse if it's windy.

So even though you save on a jib, you do need lots of tie-downs and gaffer tape to keep him upright.

Now if Jannard could do for the height-challenged what he's apparently doing for digital film-making, that could give huge hope to Jarred and people like him ...

Hey Jim,

Remember to take a good stash of cigars to IBC. After screening the 4k footage I think you and "da boyz" should prop your feet up and torch off "Its a Baby" stoggies, Dominican or Costa Rican, or better yet Cuban. Time to break out the private reserve!

Enjoy it! A brief moment of tranquility in th eye of the hurricane...

That means when I grow into my size 11 feet I'll be 9' instead of my present 6'2". Cool!!

If I hire Jarred as a cinematographer/jib I'll be sure and bring plenty of tiedowns and sand bags. Thanks for the tip!

Actually, Jarred isn't tall - the rest of us are just "vertically challenged".

CVB, your graphic skills rock!

That said, in looking closely at your composite of Jim with the RED One/RED 300mm rig, I'm sure he'd use something more stable than a monopod to get his footage...more like a big beefy Sachtler or Miller tripod.

Trust us guys to nitpick the details!

Jarred's an inventive camera op. Somewhere on this site there's a shot of him using a Konvas 35mm camera and he needed a tripod and didn't have one nearby, so he used some dude's HEAD for his tripod. Had the guy stand there and just stuck the camera on top of that guy's head and used him as a makeshift tripod...

Something tells me that a Maxim cover girl would have garnered less attention than one shot of Jim sitting at his station. The camera aside, Jim's success has a lot to how well his own image is projected (pun intended) :-) Be warned, the folicularly challenged are taking over. I've taken all the money I've saved on hair products and blown it on cool camera stuff. Jim seems to have saved a lot more than me though. Must have been expensive shampoo he was using.:Drogar-BigGrin(DBG)

Goes to show that "Necessity is the father of invention".

Hopefully the "Podhead" got paid for that gig!

Geez, that sounds like something of the Chuck Norris-kind! (That is, going by the internet craze over him at the moment) :)

Only 9.985?! Get to work you guys!

My thoughts exactly, come on RED, what's the deal? Only 9.985??

I wonder what the studio behind the super movie would have rated the camera they shot their movie on.

Sounds like an opportunity for some new gear... :)

I don't think anyone asked so if you happen to have a image of that watch shoot by the red camera I wouldn't mind if you posted it. Sometimes all you have to do is ask. Please I won't tell (to many people). :)

Hey Jim! Saw your photo with that cigar. Do you like cuban cigars? I'm travelling to Havana within a couple of days and I could get you a good fresh box of certificated Cojiba Lanceros! I would change it for a RED-reservation! :Drogar-BigGrin(DBG)
