The pumpkin at the end really caught me by surprise. I thought the story and twist was very good. Kept making me think of "Psycho." The acting could have been stronger, but overall I thought this one was good. Good job. I may never look at pumpkins the same way again.

I liked the idea of b&w in this, just wished you'd had more contrast in you shots because the look was a bit too dark and flat. Like Cinealma, I caught the Twilight Zone vibe. The acting was a bit overwrought and the music level was too loud for me. It was giving me more of a headache than building tension.

BTW, where did you get that antique phone. I haven't seen one of those in a house in years. The scissors were a bit too obvious. They were one of the first things I noticed on the shot by the phone. But that might just be me. One continuity problem, though. The scissors were always closed while he was stabbing "her" and when you showed them sticking in the pumpkin, they were open.

Good film. It was creepy, great atmosphere. One man's descent into madness. B&W a good choice. Reminded me a little of Seconds, that great John Frankenheimer, Rock Hudson flick from the 60s. Nice surprise ending. Your poll suggests it was meant to be funny... Really? I thought it was being played straight. On the one hand the final image is so absurd as to be funny, and yet the idea that some people sleep with vegetables is not as far fetched as some believe. Some sick puppies out there!

Look forward to your next film.

rockpunk,

you had some really solid images in this one, but if you are going to go with the black and white look, pay particularly close attention to your lighting, some shots were so dark i couldn't really tell what was going on in the shot.

The noises were really hard to listen to, so i guess that they played their part well, and it was well played on the buildup to the reveal. The reveal of a pumpkin was kind of a groaner for me, but i chuckled a little on the inside, i kinda like groaner jokes.

It was a bold move to take the effort to make entire film for a potential groaner joke at the end, congrats on that, i applaud the effort!

When I imagined the scene I knew I had to have an old phone - I was hoping for a rotary dial like I grew up with. When I went out of town to visit my mom I asked her if she still had any of those old phones. She didn't but she did have the one in the film. You actually have to wire it up to make it work - it doesn't even have a jack like most phones. Needless to say it is just hanging on the wall. The ring used in the story is one of my ringtones from my cell phone - ironic?

The scissors were a bit too obvious. They were one of the first things I noticed on the shot by the phone. .

The original script called for Jack to pull the phone off the wall and then smash Jill's head with it - kinda improbable so I changed it to scissors - ala Dial M for Murder.

When I started editing, I put together the beginning - up to where he walks into the house - and the end - from where he opens the bedroom door through the final sequence.

The first time I watched the end, I laughed out loud. It's probably because the pumpkin is so f'n jolly looking. My wife, who also laughed out loud when she saw the end, suggested that I reshoot with a really smashed up pumpkin. I think that would have improved the "darkness" of the story. However, I liked the fact that I evoked such an opposite reaction to the tone of the film.

Thank you very much for taking the time to watch the film and provide feedback.

I lit mostly all of the scenes with my Home Depot salad bowl and 150 w fluorescent "natural light" bulb and the rooms' regular lighting. Outside shots were done with daylight. I did use the Cool VidLed for the one shot of the front door. So, you can see, I have almost no practical experience with lighting a scene properly. I know theoretically how to do it - I guess I just used what I had.

Hey Rock Punk!,

I thought you had a lot of very nice shots in this especially at the beginning.

I like the story of these pumpkins driving this guy mad, but I think you probably could have cut this down quite a bit because he is at the phone area for a long time.

Nice twist with it being a pumpkin at the end. I remember thinking at the start...hmm, this guy has a lot of pumpkins, but then moving on. Nice foreshadowing.

My entry in Horrorfest '06 was a little obtuse - so I tried to 'over'shadow with this entry! Thanks for taking the time to provide some feedback.
