Jarred - Mirror Question

Jarred,

There are a couple films for which the author has indicated the wrong version is on the servers. Should we update the mirror files with the "corrected" version?

I wasn't 100% sure on the policy once the doors had been opened, figured I'd better find out for sure before I started replacing files.

Peace,
Larry

edited to add: if it helps, the two files currently in question are "5b" by Aram Bauman/MsManhattan and "Second Hand Smoke" by Virum

- Mikko ... might be mirroring a little too closly tonight.

it seems like it should be okay if the corrected version was uploaded before the deadline. otherwise this probably shouldn't be allowed - it would mean these people had 3-4 extra days to finish.

note: i'm not complaining - i just don't want people to accidently get dq'd from the competition

I sent him an email per his instructions with a link to the new video before the upload period was done.

There is no different in content, it's just the compression is better....the colors don't fluctuate all the time.

Based on looking through the threads prior to the closing of the upload door I feel confident that these two entries did attempt to provide the corrected files. I am going to take a chance and update my mirror with the corrected versions, but I will keep the current version in case Jarred comes by and says they need to go back.

I'll leave it up to the other mirror's whether or not they follow suit.

Ok, so I renamed the original files to <orig filename>_mov.orig (e.g. "5B_Aram_B_MsManhattan.mov" became "5B_Aram_B_MsManhattan_mov.orig") and then renamed the new file to the original filename (e.g. "5B_FINAL.mp4" became "5B_Aram_B_MsManhattan.mp4")

Note, in the case of 5B I changed the original filename on the new file to use the "mp4" extension rather than the "mov" as the new file was a "mp4" file.

Hope that makes sense. :)

Peace,
Larry
