Jack Daniel Stanley & Mark Johnson's REKINDLED

I think this time JDS is at large. Looking forward to the short. By the way how about a 30 min short trip to your imagination? Although 5 JDS minutes are mind-blowing, they are just appetizers.

Man, the girl looks sad, and the guy looks CREEPY

Well...i prefer to think of myself as disturbing :crybaby:

Be careful Brandon. You dont wanna see me upset.

it's been fun and games and take out so far...cant wait to see what (the resident geniuses) jack and mark do with this thing!!

Hey guys, thanks for sharing that BTS info and photos! I love seeing the difference of the lighting and texture between the two shots of the hvx hitting the ceiling. In the video, the imagery is so beautiful but in the in shot of the crane pressed against the ceiling, the room is so stark.

I am glad that the hvx is undamaged. How frightening! (when I was brainstorming for a horror short, I had an idea of building a model of a dvx and shooting it being abused! You know, hitting the floor... tumbling down the stairs... real horrifying stuff!)

Keep up the great work! I know that it will be amazing.

DUDE! That's the word I was looking for... disturbing... ARGH! Couldn't think of it at the time. It looks good dude.

That's Mark (vislaw) Johnson and his Chow Baby magic :)
Glad you like it Weston.
We gotta ways to go yet and who knows if it'll cut together or if people will like it. It's pretty different from my otherstuff, a stretch in otherwords.

yeah doing some b-roll stuff today

Pickups to be shot Sunday include
  • a Medium CU with blood splatter effect
  • cuttaway of the weapon
  • mudium to full shot of someone after they killed someone.
  • dropping another weapon
  • a small sequence (3 shots maybe) after someone is killed
  • close ups for a two line scene that I had hoped would work in a two shot / master but don't like so much
  • a close up of feet walking
I think that's about it after the b-roll today. The blood spatter stuff will be very easy as it is one shot, or a pain in the buttanza as it has blood effects.

Mark flies back to the left coast tonight at 8pm eastern, but we are shipping his HVX back later.

In total ... let's see ... will probably wind up taking about 6 days.

Thanks for the interest.

Jack

You know Jack, I try to NOT watch your thread because it inspires me to NOT make a movie...because really, how the hell can a noob possibly compete?

But at the same time, I can't help reading it because from what I've seen of your past work, you do some really wicked stuff and it's captivating to see you "in process".

You rock the casbah dude...

You know, it's cheaper just to ship it to Carroll Gardens. Or better yet, I can just come by and pick it up...

Sounds great, Jack. Is Mark's work all done or does he do his magic in CA and send stuff back to you? Can't wait to see what you needed his help for!

(So, are you licking your chops at a chance to own your own HVX?)

Haha thanks ... remember Shed though? made by a totally anonymous noob who had only been shooting for a month and it did well in Zombie fest.

There are always people that come out of left field in these contests and suprise everyone.

Me in Zombie Fest

Macgregor
Spidey
TheMacB
Kaz in Scifest

Snodart in Herofest and so on.

Also, the contests are good as a barometer to see where you are and to get feedback. There are a lot of people who climb from 30th to 10th to 5th with each contest as they learn stuff because, most importantly, they are getting out there making films.

Anyway ... I hope I'm not a deterrent :)

And if I can help with your flick in anyway, let me know.

Best,

Jack

mark's work is far from over ... started out that he was just going to do some FX stuff but we hit it off and he's a frickin' nut job so when put forth the idea of him flying from L.A. to New York to actually crew, I had a feeling he'd say yes.

So he co-DPed and was head gaff and now he'll go back to L.A. and get ready for some post effects.

He was great though. He's pretty far north of 45 let's say and he totally out worked this 20 year old dude who has also helped greatly with the movie.

Mark had to motor over to Pennsylvania to take care of a high profile client for his business. So he paid the 20 year old AD/AC to drive him there, which meant they would be up for 40ish hours by the time they finished the shoot this morning.

So the 20 year old guy craps out at 2 am and is snoring on the air-mattress in the living room ... we had to kick him before dialogue scenes so he would stop snoring AND ... again he's a red blooded 20 year old male and he snoozed through the love making scene with our totally gorgeous gal lead ... talk about tired ... when I was twenty I woulda ... well you get the picture.

Anyway point is. Mark was totally excited to be working on this even on zero sleep and just ran circles around the conked out kid.

Mark was so tired that he fell asleep standing up during some lockdown shots! After I said "cut" I had to yell his name a couple of times and he'd snap to and stop recording. But he was having a ball the whole time, even totally wrecked like that and just kept going.

Anyway, that's what it was like working with Mark.
