Jack Daniel Stanley & Mark Johnson's REKINDLED

Hey Jack, footage looks nice. I really like that basement setting. I can't wait to see the whole thing! LOVE that light beaming in from the hallway. And the textures are great. Especially that pitted concrete beam that is in the final frame of the clip.

Funny, maybe I don't know what to look for, but I don't see noise in the black. I actually think that the shot looks great... considering that it is compressed for the web (or whatever the accurate term would be).

Nice man. Oh! And congrats on getting Mark Johnson on the job. I love the stuff he does!

ooo, saw that HVX bump - not fun. It looks fantastic nonetheless, it seems you are using an adapter, if so which one/what kind of lenses?

Hello all ... thanks for the feedback on the footage. In the thick of production now ... man the stories I could tell, but have no time to just yet!

Brandon ... running over 2 or 3 days but slugging through it. Everyone is very committed and seems to feel what we are getting is worth the effort and insane hours. We are shooting nights like 7 pm to 5 AM or 730 AM. We are really taking the time to do this one right as much as possible.

Noah ... no adaptors or lenses in this shot. Just stock HVX lens

Just a quick comment from one of the crew:

J Dan is seriously kicking some butt on this one. You are in for a real treat when this sucker is finally finished.

Only a few more days of dried blood, day old milk, ancient dust, and toxic waste paint. Hang in there my friend! Sleep is for the weak.

JF

Thanks John.

John's help was invaluable in coreographing and selling a seemingly simple move. He and makeup FX artist Josh Potter, and Co-DP Mark "vislaw" Johnson, and both Amy and Jason (actor types), really collaborated to make the moment come together better than I'd hoped.

Hey, I just checked out the new BTS and scene grabs! I LOVE the reds in the design!!! Awesome!

Jack, you look a lot tougher in your myspace photo. Is that the "working man" Jack I see with the bucket?

haha ... Mark and I were working in close tandem and he was about to post the UPDATE since he put together the photo shop collage, but I went live with the collage right before he got sucked into a business call, lol.

Post Katrina Jack is 35 pounds heavier with a Ben Franklin haircut ... the myspace photo was my tough guy headshot.

Yeah, I like the red.

But man, after that freak with the hand messed that place up and left two dead bodies in the hall, I'm surprised they were able to rent it again...

haha ... yeah. This time we painted the whole room instead of just one corner for the set so Megan and I can live with it after I never get around to repainting it when the movie is done

Ok, I'm done with my call and I see Jack has posted the images (thanks J-Dan).

Now, let me attend to some new business. You see, earlier on this thread there is a clip showing my HVX hitting the roof during a crane move. Here's a shot from the BTS camcorder showing the strike:

NOW, the posting conveniently failed to disclose who was operating the crane at the time of this little incident. Fortunately, we have this documented as well ... and the operator is .......:

Panasonic apparently makes rugged toys as the camera was unscathed.

Working with Jack has been like a master class and I've learned more in these few days than any course or book could teach. I've been particularly interested to watch him work with his actors and he gets a range of subtle performance tweaks that make a huge difference in the resulting takes.

This has been a brutal shoot. Jack mentioned that we've been shooting about 12 hours each night from dusk to dawn. However, he didn't mention that all other waking hours have been spent on production tasks and setup so that other than 5 or 6 hours sleep each night, quickly grabbed meals and a few hygeine necessities, this has been wall to wall movie making. Moreover, the conditions of the basement set are pretty digusting now that we've got the place literally covered with blood mixed with dirt.

Jack also is beginning to disclose evidence of neurosis. The other day Megan cooked us each small pizzas (four slices a pie). By the time I got to the kitchen two of my slices were gone and Jack was the only one who had gone in there. The circumstantial case was strengthened when Jack was actually observed later to get a plate from the cupboard, pull out two pieces of pizza from the fridge and then he put the plate back in the cupboard with the pizza slices untouched. Weird, man. ... and I haven't even gotten to how he talks to the dog. I guess being a tortured genius has its price in terms of mental sanity.

I can't wait for you all to see the real deal when REKINDLED is finished. The sets are amazing and the images we are getting are incredible. I only hope my effects work can do justice to the script and film that Jack has put together here.

Well, I could've told you the dumbass operating the crane just from seeing that move...

Hey Jack, tell Mark about the time you used a boom pole as a crane. Wait, maybe you should wait till he gets back to LA and his HVX is safely out of your clutches...:)
