I just have to get one last comment in before voting ends: Rekindled is simply awesome. There are so many incredible details, from the record label, to the song itself, to all the little sounds and nice touches in the production design...

Incredible work, guys.

I had to also just say how amazed I was one more time. This movie is phenomenal, and I think it will win, but even if it does not, it has changed the way I approach movies. I believe I am a better film maker from studying it and learning from Jack and Mark's comments and helpful tips. Thank you guys!!!!!

Your guys's comments means a lot to me .. and to get a sound nod from Ben ... wow ... (he like does sound for James Cameron and stuff)

Thanks for the continued support guys and gals.

It's been one of the best fests yet for me regardless of the outcome tonight.

Thanks all,

jack

Hi Jack, I'd like to say good luck! Despite any minor issues I may have had with your film, I'm being picky because there wasnt much to pick at :)

It was a really pro piece of work and I think it'll be a crime if you are not in the top 3.

So good luck tonight, but more importantly, keep making em!

A sincere thanks to everyone who contributed to this thread and who took the time to watch REKINDLED. It was an honor to co-DP with Captain Jack and I will never forget the experience.

Even better is the fact that during his therapy yesterday, my nephew Brett took the television remote from the nurse and pushed the number she asked him to. He still doesn't respond consistently and has miles to go, but he's coming back slowly and surely. Some day I hope you all get to meet him on these boards, if not in person.

Bless all of you for your prayers and thoughts. I feel at home here and love this big eclectic family!

Mark Johnson

Mark I am really happy! No words I can think of will have any meaning right now! Human nature rules in all ways!

Hey Mark,

Now that's a prize for today.

Just finally getting the time to copy the notes I compiled in a Word doc while watching the shorts:

We started the fests together, and have always seen each other as peers, but you’ve so completely surpassed me at this point. Visually we have different styles, but it doesn’t stop me from envying yours, and hoping I catch up sooner than later in story telling, etc. You’re a one man stomping machine, as the editing & camera was flawless … just amazing work. The music was perfect as well (did Herman do the lyrics & vocals as well? – I’ll have to see the full credits, as I’m also wondering who the person was that this was dedicated to & why). LOVED the opening titles on the record player – original and totally helped with the consistent vibe/theme throughout. Had a difficult time understanding the story at first, but it all came together near the end & made sense. Nothing seemed overly gratuitous in this, and had purpose to drive the story/characters. Lighting and color correction were also exceptional, and set design/dressing was perfect. Gosh watching your stuff just absolutely makes me sick. J We should team up sometime … maybe I can at least help with the marketing, and otherwise be your lackey, lol.

Yeah those notes were made probably the first day the films came available to view, so I just posted them as-is, even though knowing since that Mark helped with camera as well.

VERY cool to hear his nephew's had a break-through today ... something to keep in prayer for full recovery.
