Neil Cicierega, maker of The Ultimate Showdown and other various internet hits, is hosting a Youtube video contest. The contest - Send Niel Death Threats. My buddy Alex, the talent, asked me to shoot and edit his submission.
I've Got Some Killing To Do
Recording the song was an interesting challenge. He didn't have the vocals recorded before hand but he did have the melody. Here's the steps we took to make the song:
1.) Alex played the melody through headphones and sang his lyrics into my shotgun mic, mic was 2.5 feet away, while using his laptop mic to record a scratch audio track.
2.) Alex mixed the scratch track into the melody creating a reference song for lipsyncing and editing.
3.) Alex sent me the reference audio and clean track of the melody. I used the reference audio to make the melody track up and the audio track I recorded.
4.) With the audio in proper sync I sent it over to Soundtrack Pro to EQ and compress it.
