It's shipping! And there's a surprise

of course, it wasn't that long ago that a camera that could digitally deliver what the BMC does cost close to those lens prices...

The audio is crap on the BMCC and I am sure it is the same circuit on the 4K.
Black Magic's motto is - "Audio - who needs it? We shoot RAW Mo Fo's!!!!"

Since this site and the bmcuser are connected I didn't know how the dvxuser folks would feel If I used a blackmagic heading. I apologize if it caused any confusion. It's still good news for a lot of us. Thanks

Hey, by the way, this camera is notably smaller than its purported image size, as the earlier Cinema Camera is. Only the Pocket Camera is basically what they say it is:

Code:
Format Width Height Diagonal BlackMagic Width Height Diagonal Difference in Area
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
S16 12.52 7.41 14.55 Pocket 12.48 7.02 14.31 -6%
4/3 19.21 10.8 22.00 Cinema 15.81 8.88 18.13 -32%
S35 24.89 14.0 28.55 Production 21.12 11.88 24.23 -28%

DISCLAIMER: Who cares? Any chip size between Super 16 and Super 35 is fine with me.
DISCLAIMER: BlackMagic sets their prices lowwwww.
DISCLAIMER: This was really more of a, hmm, that's interesting, maybe for someone who thinks they're going mad because all their lenses seem more telephoto.
DISCLAIMER: The Speedbooster can correct this. In fact, it will overcorrect.

Thanks Kholi. I love the footage. Grade was really nice, I got a idea what this camera can do. Impressive to say the least.

Kholi what was the camera set up with? As is with lens and nd? Cage? I assume that you were recording mos. I am interested from an ergonomics pov.
Thanks
Brian

Let's see...

Viewfactor Cage (IDX Plate, Handle, 2.5K/4K Cage, arri dovetail adapter plate)
IDX Battery (generally carry one small one or one large one depending on what weight needs to be)
Hoya ProNDs (77mm, full set's generally in my backpack from 4 to 1000)
Hoya IR Cut
TV Logic 5.6" and what I believe is a like a 7" arm
Then whatever glass at the time.

My thought is that if someone's really into internal NDs, they will absolutely hate anything Blackmagic creates where ergonomics are concerned. It doesn't bother me, although I've definitely looked into rehousing the camera(s), but I've adjusted and I'm willing to for the image.

I couldn't recommend it to those that like something like an AF100 or C100/300. If you shoot RED or anything like that, it's quite literally no different as far as building the cameras out.

I think you can download a heavily compressed 4K file here:

https://vimeo.com/86378280

There's another video on my VImeo page, containing similar footage but different shots, not up'd at 4K.

This was from a span of two months just about, before christmas and up until now, learning the camera as it was finished for production run.

Give me some good sound, some good actors, a good story, and I will watch a narrative movie that looks like this all day long without any complaints.
