It's Official, A New Season!

Possibly as good as 2nd, John. :Drogar-BigGrin(DBG)

I don't know how serious you were about the comment Blaine, but the NL west I think is going to be the tightest division race of them all. Judging from last year it is the weakest division and this year all the teams, with the exception of the Giants, have improved. I am in three different under / over bets regarding Bonds and have taken the under for 60 games, 80 games, and 100 games (for how many he'll play) and without Bonds I don't think the Giants have a shot in hell. It really comes down to the Padres and Dodgers. A lot of the moves the Dodgers made over the off season that really made me believe that they have a good chance have already fizzeled. It took what? 2 days for Garciapara to end up on the DL (between his last spring training day and openning day, he started the year on the DL). I just really think that the Padres have a legit chance of making it to the post season. The weird thing about the Padres is they have the most vibrant minor league system and I think come the all star break if they have a shot they are going to rock in the second half of the season. I picked the Dodgers to win the west, but I really think I could be wrong and the Padres, if they get hot around the All Star Break, that if they are within 5 games they are going to rock it out.

That all being said, my Yankees have sort of been weird. We have a legit chance to break the 1931 1067 runs scored by Yankees (major league record), but the big issue that I'm seeing right now is that we just don't have the energy we need. I think if they pick up the energy level and compliment it with that professional intensity, we're going to not see another four game losing streak. I've been hurting bad because of how we started so far, but yesterday really picked me up a bunch.

It's going to be a great season... I've watched all 6 games so far and predict I'll easily catch 1000 innings of Yankee baseball this season.

Jeremy,

For me to say that the Pads are going to win the west would be like you admitting that the Red Sox will win the AL East :Drogar-BigGrin(DBG)

When you put it into fighting words like that I can understand. :furious3:

Yeah, I can be completely objective, analytical, and open minded to anything in baseball except in the AL East.

Actually, concerning the injuries, I'm not that concerned. Nomar and Kenny Lofton will be back but I'm enjoying seeing what Loney and Jason Repko have done so far. Gagne is another thing altogether. It hurts. BUT we still have Danys Baez - 41 saves last year. The Dodger farm system is stocked with talent on the verge of contributing on the major league level. Our minor league system hasn't been this exciting in 30-40 years.

well, so far so good for my A's.

it was nice to see Zito get a 1 hitter, but Frank Thomas needs to step it up. I wanna see him put the "big hurt" on a ball.

I saw him do that against the Yankees... I don't want to see it again. The best thing I can say right now after those six games against Oakland and Anaheim, I mean Los Angeles, I mean Los Angeles of Anaheim, I mean... Oh the Angels... We only have one more trip out there this year and that's not until August.

I hate those west coast trips, I think it hurts the players and if you think about it, this was almost 2 weeks out there because we finished spring training in AZ.

Yankees and Mets in first place... Don't call my psychic...

Tonight, Yanks v Sox

and the Padres gave up Mirabelli

Yankee, just a tidbit I thought you might enjoy...

Preston Mattingly, the son of former New York Yankees star Don Mattingly, went to the Los Angeles Dodgers with the 31st pick -- the first selection of the compensation round.:Drogar-BigGrin(DBG)

Pads are pissing me off (as usual)

4.0 out in June ? I don't like it.

Yeah, I can't figure out how the D-backs are doing it...Smoke and mirrors...:furious3:

man, after spending time in europe and watching rugby and hurling, I have zero respect for football players in america

And that has a lot to do with baseball.

The whole thing with this season is the Yankees have a 1.5 game lead right now over Boston and more important than that, we are injured beyond belief.

I think that the Pads will bounce back though Hudson... And Blaine, that Mattingly thing completely sucks, in fact I am very pissed about it.
