I don't know how serious you were about the comment Blaine, but the NL west I think is going to be the tightest division race of them all. Judging from last year it is the weakest division and this year all the teams, with the exception of the Giants, have improved. I am in three different under / over bets regarding Bonds and have taken the under for 60 games, 80 games, and 100 games (for how many he'll play) and without Bonds I don't think the Giants have a shot in hell. It really comes down to the Padres and Dodgers. A lot of the moves the Dodgers made over the off season that really made me believe that they have a good chance have already fizzeled. It took what? 2 days for Garciapara to end up on the DL (between his last spring training day and openning day, he started the year on the DL). I just really think that the Padres have a legit chance of making it to the post season. The weird thing about the Padres is they have the most vibrant minor league system and I think come the all star break if they have a shot they are going to rock in the second half of the season. I picked the Dodgers to win the west, but I really think I could be wrong and the Padres, if they get hot around the All Star Break, that if they are within 5 games they are going to rock it out.
That all being said, my Yankees have sort of been weird. We have a legit chance to break the 1931 1067 runs scored by Yankees (major league record), but the big issue that I'm seeing right now is that we just don't have the energy we need. I think if they pick up the energy level and compliment it with that professional intensity, we're going to not see another four game losing streak. I've been hurting bad because of how we started so far, but yesterday really picked me up a bunch.
It's going to be a great season... I've watched all 6 games so far and predict I'll easily catch 1000 innings of Yankee baseball this season.
