ISO equivalent

With neutral settings, does anyone know what the ISO equivalent is for the A1?

k but, i dont shoot at 18db, more so 0 or -3db

i read a while back that the dvx's equivalent was somewhere around 320 aso? could this be similar to the A1?

i actually took my rebel out this morning, shot something at F4.0 on 400 ISO, set my A1 to F4 with identical shutter speeds, and the results were SOMEwhat similar. so maybe around 350 ish, since the A1 was slightly darker.

If in fact the camera is an equivalent of ISO 800 at 18 dB of gain, then a bit of simple math reveals the answer.

18 dB is: 10^(18/20)

or

10^(.9) = 7.94

800/7.94 = ISO 100.71 at 0 dB of gain

Seems pretty slow to me.

i have a hard time believing its 100iso, i can much more picture than 100 asa would in low light.

The XHA1 is around 200 to 320 depending on which gamma curve you have set.

Hmmm, that sounds much more reasonable to me. So, with 18 dB of gain (assuming that the quantity is accurately stated) it should have netted out to be the equivalent of:

ISO 200 x (10^(18/20)) = ISO 1590
ISO 320 x (10^(18/20)) = ISO 2540

The gamma curve of the camera may come into play and provide a bit of compression to the heel and shoulder area, but I suspect that the original sited measurement (ISO 800 @ 18 dB) is a bit flawed. Either way 18 dB of gain seems like a lot for a small format camera, I wonder how noisy it would be in that configuration.

who cares wit hthe gain lol, i wanna know at neutral settings. Gain is useless for shooting anywho.
