Iscorama Anamophic Lens Test

Not @ PM box please. As posted, if you are interested you can email me to:

I have some good news to all of you. I've been in touch with Isco, the manufacturer, where I have a contact inside. They are aware of this thread now.

This is the information that I have:

Because this is either an old lens model and the chances to get stock are out of their mind, they can develop a new product especially for the DSLR market, if there will be market for. Modern manufacturing, new design and models. Everything new. Same (improved) technology and quality, though. They have all the necessary know-how.

Please, do not ask me price even why they have no idea yet. It will depend on a lot of factors. As matter of fact, the person with who I've been in touch with, asked my thoughts on the subject matter. So, I'd like to listen this community.

If you'll have interest to be an Isco customer, post it here. This will help their decision. They have everything for offering it. I repeat, it will depend on us, the market.

Moreover, the chances for several focal lengths or a general high quality adapter are both on the table. As far as I could figure out so far, they are really interested.

Please, do not send me PMs for this purpose once I have my box almost full (you can email to emanuel [dot] 2003 [at] hotmail [dot] com instead). There's nothing to hide. You can post it here your thoughts, ideas, suggestions, etc. This thread will be monitored.

More to come.

Best as usual,
Emanuel :-)

PS: Tomorrow, I hope to be in touch with the Isco's technical director via this manufacturer's employee interested to help.

RED1 + 2012 = paperweight.
RED ONE is a moviemaking tool, in a certain way, like any other. There's an upgrade path program for this camera. In any way whatsoever, this 35mm camera won't be more obsolete than any other since more than 100 years ago.

:)

It's a general comment on technology.

I suspect that it may well have a much shorter life span than previous generations of image making machines - technology is on a exponential curve - in that respect I see it propping open a door in your studio while you shoot your next ad with something you picked up in the garage while filling your car up.

I come from a background where I spent summer in L.A. (I am from the UK) paying a guy $600/hour to work his Quantel Paintbox/Harry magic (we worked in the same building as Lucas Sound Stage) - the following summer while back in London someone came running into our studio to say that there is a skip on Charlotte street with a fully featured Quantel Paintbox/Harry dumped in it !!!!! - no one moved from their seats - Photoshop/AfterEffects had happened.

But to be honest I don't know enough about the RED upgrade path program to qualify my comments - maybe they have managed to work out how to avoid the inevitable (??)

Me too plz. Add to me to the Isco list(s):

3) Projx v2.0

That's it !

As soon as there are three on the list (any list) it comes under the protection of the United Nations.

If anyone tried to deny the list now, they will likely have some pre-emption visited upon their asses.

Add me to the list too ;)

So for anamorphics... I'm guessing they'd be 1.5 or a 2.0 [for proper characteristics...] rather than 1.33x.

1024x768p / 1400x1050p firmware update for the 5DmkII/GH1/D90 anyone?

I have already put in a request with the Magic Lantern firmware hackers for a display mode for the 5DII's LCD that squeezes the image in the vertical plane to correct for the anamorphicity - this would be only for on screen LCD display (the full signal would be written to the CF as normal).

Yes, Lee. Nice shot. But with your second post there, Tramm lost the attention straight on the native spot. No, I don't speak about native frame rate now. :-)

Put me down for a set of Nikon mount primes!

Isco: make 'em durable, smooth, and fast, but please just as everyone else has said keep the imperfections - that's what we love about them!

To all those who have emailed me these days, I will put you in the order of arrival. I will forward to ISCO all your suggestions received in the meantime. This thread is being monitored these days. As soon as I have news, I will email you. More to come in a few days.

Thanks for your interest and feedback,

Emanuel :-)

Just wondering if there was any update on this. If Iscorama does produce new anamorphic product(s), I'd definitely be interested.

It does really seem there will be opportunity for all of you shoot anamorphics as you wish. There's also further information of stock to come from some Isco rep in vacations nowadays (CBS dvxuser.com member info) for 450, I believe, as far as I've seen posted in these same boards a few days ago.
