Iscorama 36 Nikon lenses query

In the process of buying an Isco 36 adaptor for Letus/5D&7D use, I have a set of Nikkor primes from 35mm 1.4, 50mm 1.2, 85mm 1.4, 105 any of these don't work/attach with the Isco?

Work is largely of an experimental nature so flares, vignetting not an issue.

Lastly what is the size of the Isco diameter ring I need to find the step up/down ring to my other lenses?

Thanks

The Isco has a 49mm thread on the rear of it. The rear element itself protrudes far beyond it. For Nikon lenses you will need a 52 to 49mm STEP DOWN ring and several cheap 49mm UV filters with the glass taken out in order to bridge the gap. You cannot use lenses wider than 50mm and the only lens which is really usuable at that focal length is the Nikon 50/1.8 D with it's recessed barrel. Above that focal length you need to be careful that the front elements are not too large or you may get vignetting.

Thanks yoclay for that valuable info, I look forward to experimenting with other lenses and seeing what can be adapted to the Isco. Since the 50mm 1.8 D is only a few years old, was the Isco only designed to be used with it's existing front lens and never with any other Nikkor lens of it's era?

Do not confuse the 36 with the Iscorama. Even though they have essentially the same front elements, the rear element of the 36 is slightly larger. The 36 is also multi-coated while the other is not. This means that the latter will also produce more flares. The Iscorama was produced with a f2.8 taking lens. This came in several mounts including M42, Exacta and Nikon. It has a slightly smaller rear element to adapt well to that piece. This means that it fit's almost perfectly in all those recessed barrel lenses, including many macro's (like the Nikon 55mm f2.8). This is less true for the 36.

I have no issues using the 36 and a 7D. But I think it helps to have the M42 mount. Like this
