It's really beginning to annoy me and was wondering if anyone else had a similar problem.

im not sure what its called, but the metal attachment that hooks the monitor on to the camera is not straight and makes the monitor slope to the right.

is yours like it?

is there a fix?

I never quite like that LCD assembly design, there is too much stress on the attachment point, those little screws get loose and the all assembly feels a bit flimsy. I really wish Canon will offer an optional attachment just with audio controls and a built in mic in the handle similar to C100 for run and gun situations. Also, the twin cable link to the camera is a point of concern. If either of the two cables goes bad, it's pretty much game over. And replacing those doesn't seem a simple affair. Why not have put connectors on both ends of those cables? carrying a spare could have been a life savior on far-flung shoots.

Sorry missed this... just loosen and retighten your screws?

Much more technical than that!!!

Mounted it to the camera body and gave it a twist!! :D

Went to a big Camera show in London today where Canon had a stand and had a look at all the C300's I could find. I didn't see one that was absolutely straight, although most were more straight than mine.

Had a brief chat with a couple of Japanese guys from Canon and showed them the pic on my iPhone. He asked if I had dropped the camera or maybe placed something heavy on the monitor. Answer to both was no.

He said it was fixable so when I came home I called up Canon CPS to ask how long they would take to fix it. Call went to answer phone. About to call again and thought what if i twisted it back into position. Did it and it seemed to tighten a little and I got it back into position.

I agree. Crap design and not very bullet proof.

once you get it straight, take a small screwdiver and tighten those 4 screws. thats what i did, and continue to do when the loosen. im thinking about pulling them out and putting some lock-tite on them
