GH4 Is Vlog worth it w/o an external recording?

I'm sorry if this has been covered in longer threads, but it's been a while since I read through them all... as of today, what is the consensus on the GH4 V-log mode when recording to internal? Is it worth it?

Have an upcoming project and debating shooting it on V-log and paying for the unlock, or staying with the tried and true Cine-V settings

If the project is important I would stay with what you know and what works. V-Log can bring some benefits but it can also render some sub standard footage, especially if you have not had much experience with it.

Cine-V is a good profile. I used to use it exclusively, but have now settled on Natural. As I say, if you need consistency with the project, don't rock the boat.

For me it has been Vlog-L and Cine D respectively, with Vlog-L yielding the best results using the Atomos Shogun recording in Avid DNXHR HQ/10bit 422. I shoot exclusively in Cine D when shooting events, which only need a little contrast and color and you are good to go. My videos Shot in a control environment, I shoot exclusively Vlog-L/Leeming Lut v323/DaVinci Resolve.

I've never seen benefits from shooting VLOG internally. Maybe only seen one specific example of a lamp that was blown out not using VLOG... who shoots a lamp like that on purpose? I'd rather light that scene better.

Anyway, after blowing $100, and a bunch of testing internal recording only, I don't find any use for it.

Thanks guys. Had good luck with Vlog on the Varicam, but I remember reading this with the GH4 and wasn't sure if anything had changed... I'll stick with the out of box options I've been using!
