Is this what I want?

I've been looking at the DVX100. I really like it, but am not sure if it's the way to go. I work for a large, not-for-profit organization that works with animals. Some of our footage is sent out to the local news for broadcast.

Is this the quality of camera that I am looking for? And how does this compare to HD? (My superiors would like to get HD but I am pretty sure it is WAY out of our budget.)

We already shoot in DV and have a Sony DV deck - would I need to get a different deck for the DVX100?

I know that this is a camera I would personally LOVE to have (borrowed a friend's once) but am not sure if the quality would be compared to HD.

I'm not going to speak to the visual quality in comparison with HD .. it is an SD camera, and technically 'limeted' as such.


But yes, it will work the the Sony DV deck you have. MiniDV is MiniDV.

No problems, they'll work fine. And yes, the DVX is plenty adequate for doing local broadcast work, many large networks (such as MTV) use the DVX extensively.
