so wait is this an actual well know "scam shop" or is it an assumption by a moderator?

hmm...i guess the reseller ratings dont look too bad...its just like i wouldn't have to pay tax or shipping at that place...as opposed to newegg...which is where im leaning towards right now cuz i buy from them all the time...gotta wonder if its worth the extra bux saved and extra waiting around for it to show up i guess...

and for the record, im not some scammer or something trying to get people to buy from that place! promise. just looking for advice! thanks

anyway...is that prob the best bang for the buck camera out there as far as getting the "hollywood look" to the film?

I heavely researched places before I bought my DVX. I looked at Adorama, B&H, and some other sites that LOOKED legit. I was told by another person I knew to look up all the places on the web from independent researchers. I found out that sites like bestpricecameras.com had only 6 employees and was just a scam. Do yourself a favor, before you spend over $2,000, find the place's address or city and search it in the Better Business Bureau (bbb.org). If you get muptiple results, look at the city where the place is and try to match it that way.
Also, consider if you are going to buy more equipment in the future (micropones, tripods, etc.). Don't be afraid to spend a little more money to go to a real, professional store where good service is garunteed. Getting your name well known in a store like B&H or Adorama will work wonders for discounts, free stuff, or even getting stuff that they will not release for a couple of days (of they have it stocked for sale).

If you're serious about 'not being scammed', here's a good place to start. I mean, c'mon, we ALL want to save money.

JCal11379 is right about equipment other than the camera. Buy solid stuff (mics, mixers, tripod, lights, etc...), because you will use that stuff for years and years after your camera (to quote another DVXuser) "is regulated to a doorstop".

The camera you buy has little to nothing to do with a "Hollywood Look". You can achieve a better 'look' with good/great production values (no matter what camera you're using). The great thng about the DVX is that it was the first (or one of the first) video cameras that used a 24p recording mode. The engineers did a great job in trying to emulate the look of film from a video camera (hence, "film look").

If you go out and shoot in 24p (and know little of production values) your footage will still NOT have that "Hollywood Look". But it will have that 24p 'motion blur' which can make it look slightly better then your typical family home video.

There is MILES of information about shooting in 24p here on the DVXuser site. Just do a few searches.

Hope this helps
