Is this normal? Noise or dead pixel

I was testing out my new xh-a1(bought from BH) last night for the first time and I noticed a weird dot that resembled a dead pixel. Well, it may be normal, IDK. I was shooting concert in M mode, 24F HDV, 6dB, 1/24 @f1.6 or wide open iris when zoomed, no custom presets. The dot only appeared sometimes. Came back home and played on my hdtv, at first I tought it was my tv, then I uploaded with vegas 8 and played in the small screen with the same dot. So I played around a bit with the cam hooked to my tv and noticed that more of the dots appear when I select a slow shutter option less than 1/24. And they become more pronounced with gain increase and totally dissapear when I select more that 1/24. So is this normal? These are just static dots some are whitish and other are reddish. I feel like getting an exchange from BH but I really dont want to go through the hassle of shipping back and waiting more.

Having never seen that on my A1 I would have to say that it's not normal. It's certainly not noise. Noise is not stationary.

I have an old GL1 that has one dead pixel almost exactly center of the FOV. It's white but I only see it when the camera is in 16X9 mode.

It doesn't sound like dead pixels on the sensor, either. But it does sound like there's something wrong with either the sensor or the image processor.

The term "Dead Pixel" isn't necessarily a true dead pixel, in this case. It simply means a pixel that isn't functioning properly...whether truly dead or staying lit as one color, etc.
