Is this a reputable DVX seller?

My friend saw an Ebay auction/ad from Sunshine Electronics in Brooklyn, NYC for a DVX100B kit (camera, 3 filters, padded case, cheapo tripod and a box of DV tapes) for around $2400. Does anyone know anything about this shop? Is it reputable or a ripoff?

Any info would be great!!

Ripoff. Gray market, no warranty and they'll try to upsell you when you call to "confirm" the order. All the "extras" are worthless junk. A new DVX is $2650, why waste time with these guys?

unfortunately, you can't trust anything from ebay that is from brooklyn (camera-wise). a good rule of thumb for ebay is to only look at cameras that are AUCTIONS, not "buy it now" only. and make sure the seller has many pics of their camera and at least one good pic of the camera's hour meter.

go for private sellers, try to stay away from ebay stores, especially those based in brooklyn ny.

A brand new DVX100 will cost you about $2600. Save yourself a lot of heartache, pain, trauma, high blood pressure, and what else.... You may think you are going to pay $2400, wait till you try to finish the sale, be ready to cough up some $1k to $2k more on junk accessories and some phony warranty stuff. Of course you can refuse to buy these accessories and politely turn them down, but all of a sudden the camera that was advertised as available will suddenly take 6 months or one year to process the order.

I got 2 DVX100Bs already from a reliable dealer, pain-free and headache-free. Now I can expend my energies on creative ideas and stuffs.

I just upgraded to the DVX100A. Bought it through ebay from a Hollywood DOP. Very low hours beautiful Petrol case and a Century focus gear mechanism. He even had it driven over the border for me to avoid duty.
I got lucky, but not everyone does. One of the best things to do, is to look for sellers in your area. Ask for a local pickup and cash payment. This lets you inspect the goods and verify if their listing is BS or not. If it is, you walk, and if they refuse local pickup, it's probably not worth it. And always make sure their rating is high.

Not really worth it.

Not really worth it.

Before I knew anything about anything I bought my DVX100AP from that outfit back in August, 2005, via Ebay.

It came with essentially the same sort of package, and other than the hard case I got, and the lens filters, the other stuff was complete garbage. And the sales guy was a pushy dingleberry who was hawking all sorts of expensive extended warranties and such...

The camera was brand new, but was intended for sale in Puerto Rico or Mexico, and therefore ineligible for any sort of manufacturers warranties and rebates. I found all this out when I tried to register the camera with Panasonic and a nice lady told me what was what. When I called Sunshine back about all this, the Dingleberry was no longer interested in talking to me. But soon after that, they removed the downloadable Mail-In-Rebate form that Panasonic wouldn't honor anyway from their site.

Live and learn. Fortunately the camera's worked perfectly so far, although I've only recently really started to use it.

All in all you're better off buying from a reputable dealer, even if it means paying a little more, and getting less of the useless "extras" that really aren't worth very much.

I'd stay away from them.

Cheers!

believe it or I did get a Canon 20D some time ago from them and had no problems, shipped in manufactured box and no scam. Although I would not trust any online seller that calls you to upsell after you place an internet order.

i just purchased the 100b from Newegg.com and got a good deal, with no payments for 6months, think i paid like 2700 $. unfortunately right after i placed the order, saw they took it off the add page. but i search and found that you can be notified when this item becomes available and in 1 week they had one.

if you have online retailers in question, this is a good resource,
