Is there anything between 16mm & 28mm?

Today I had to do a talking head in a 7x10 eye exam room full of equipment, desk, etc. So my 11-16 was too wide at 16mm and my 28-70 was too tight at 28mm. I have a 25mm prime but was worried if the doctor who showed up was real tall (on bar stool) I'd regret I had no variable focal length since I could not back up one more inch. I would have no time to be changing lenses because he was late and the top guy so I had to roll the moment his butt hit the bar stool.

It never occured to me that in my arsenal there was this 16-28 gap, usually I have the option of moving the camera back a few feet so this problem never happened before.

What do you guys use to cover this range?

Thanks

The Lumix 12-35 would cover the full gap and also come within a mm of replacing that 11-16 entirely. Plus have OIS and AF. But it isn't cheap...

That's why the combo of 12-35 & 35-100 is so great - you're covered. I suspect that's what Panny was thinking when they came up with these two for m4/3. It costs a pretty penny, but it does cover you completely and you don't have to worry about matching the look of a lens compared to having a random collection of primes. Not the very, very fastest, but sometimes you have to take "claimed" speed with a grain of salt - sure, you can go to f1.4, but so what if it doesn't get usable until you stop down to 2.8 anyway - meanwhile the 12-35 is usable from the get-go at 2.8. Other than not being able to use it as a zoom while shooting video, these are great.

Smartass answer is that there somewhere between 11 and an infinite number of things between 12 and 28.

Practical answer is that (for me, at least) that's right in the sweet spot of what I usually like/need for quick n' dirty interviews... I use my Voigtlander 17.5 or PL25, or a Lumix 12-35 or PanaLeica 14-50 at right about that range. Used to use the Lumix 20/1.7 as well. There are primes available in various systems at almost all those focal lengths in between, except maybe 22-23 or 26-27 (not aware of any). Many DX zooms exist in the ~17-50 range.
