Is the HVX worth it?

Is the HVX worth it? I originally tried to order a DVX but it's not available in the UK for a further month. The main things drawing me to the HVX are:

1. Apparently the same (or even better) 24P/25P and cine-modes.
2. The HVX can shoot true 16:9 (by the way, can someone clairify if this also is the case in SD?)
3. The HVX is future proof (HD)

These are the main things I care about... but are they enough to justify the fact the HVX is twice as expensive as the DVX?

Thanks in advance

Might want to start by reading these boards, and seeing what is being done with the cam.

Also, what are you shooting and what do you intend to shoot? That dictates choices.

Only you can justify if it's worth twice the cost.

Search this board, look at clips, see if you can find someone local who has one.

Well, in the US, the difference between a DVX100B and the HVX200 is 4k and 6k retail so not quite twice as much (I suppose if you wanted a DVX100 or DVX100A then it would be twice the cost). Anyway, I think it's worth it and that's why I got one. The pros are:

1. HD so better for projection and will last you longer (nothing is quite future proof).

2. DVCPro Codec gives you twice the color space.

3. Variable frame rates for under cranking and over cranking.

4. 4 Channels of Audio.

5. More latitude.

6. Produces a cleaner and smoother looking image even on an SD-DVD (except if you're shooting 480 60i to tape for some reason).
