AC160 Is the AC160 sensor basically the same as Sony's NX5U's 3 chip sensor?

Are you asking if the sensor in the AC160 is made by Sony? I very much doubt that would be the case.

I don't believe that Panasonic uses Sony sensors in their camcorders. I'm quite confident that they manufacture their own sensors.

Can anyone else back that up??

No, I doubt anyone here (other than Jan) could confirm or deny that. But it wouldn't surprise me to find out about shared components. The XL1 used a Panasonic CCD block, the Sony VX1000 used a Canon lens, and I'm sure there are many more examples of that kind of thing going on. The interactions and interrelations and cooperation of Japanese companies seems bizarre to westerners but is quite common over there. Even though Panasonic and Sony are bitter rivals, they're also partners in AVCHD. Stranger things have happened.

The 3MOS imager that is in the AC160/130 and the HPX250 is the same imager that is in our HPX370. It is made by us.

Best,

jan

Thanks Jan, funny I was just talking to you at an expo about that. I was actually curious more about the actual specs being very much the same versus who made the products. I should have been more specific. I was more wondering if there was opinions out there on the two sensors and which they like. It's tough to choose between two cameras when the have basically the same features, same sensor and price point.
