Is my 7D defective?

I had a shoot this weekend and overall it went well, except my 7D kept acting up. I have 2 Kingston Elite Pro 8GB Compact Flash cards with the speed equaling 133x. All of my footage is shot at 1080/24p. The problem I was having was when I would record, the on screen little white bar would randomly show up that indicates the speed of the card isn't fast enough. The white bar is on the right side of the LCD screen if anyone knows what I'm talking about. It would start at one block and sometimes would build all the way to the top until the bar is full, as a result the recording would stop. I would shut down and restart numerous times, but it would keep randomly showing up.

I also noticed that sometimes my on screen LCD would dim very suttly, sometimes immediately after that bar would show up.

Is anyone else having this problem or is my camera defective?

I should also mention the shooting conditions were a normal 76-78 degrees in temperature...

I have the same problem occasionally with my slower cards. Sometimes even with my UDMA cards.

Make sure to always format the card when you insert a new one. Seems to help a lot with getting the buffer full message. I don't think your camera is defective.

The first thing to try is another CF Card. I have had no issues with the 32GB Kingston 133x but who knows about the 16GB cards. If a faster card solves your problem...well, there you go.

cool, thanks guys... if anyone else here has this issue, let me know...

Also, do you guys have the issue with LCD brightness dimming suttly too?
