GH2 Is it worth upgrading from pancake 20mm 1.7 to Voigtlander 25mm 0.95?

About that 12mm 1.6 hyperprime. It looks very tempting. But. Unfortunately, funds are limited, and I can really only get ONE 12mm lens. I have been really thinking about the Oly 12mm 2.0 - yes, it's way slower than the 1.6, BUT two things about it - first, it's sharp wide open at 2.0, and second and more important, it is apparently brilliant at continuous auto focus in video on the GH2, see the thread in this forum right here:

Now, if you have a lot of money, I'm sure you can buy both, but I don't. Ordinarily, I believe in manual focus for narrative work, but you can't really physically pull focus if you're on a steadicam, so having really good continuous auto focus in video on a steadicam is a godsend.

Of course, there are other issues, like the quality of image and color when you compare the two lenses.

So, what are your guys thoughts on the 12mm 1.6 vs the Oly 12mm 2.0? And I apologize for not having the $ to buy both :(

Was gonna get the 25/0.95, then decided on 20/1.7... but now gonna wait to see what the Voig 17/0.95 is about. That seems like the perfect balance to me!

Although the 12mm 1.4 has some nice features, I could never quite get onboard with the color profile it produced in certain scenes. And while the 12mm 2.0 has a much more pleasant color rendition to my eyes, I find the lens to be a tad over sharp. I wish there was a lens (1.8 perhaps) that combined the best of both.

Yeah, choosing between those two 12mm lenses came down to - for me - having a faster lens rather than AF, as well as the cheaper price. I have a Glidecam HD 1000, and can't wait to try the 12mm 1.6 out on it, but I'll have to maintain a constant distance from the subject for focusing.

Can't wait to see the first tests from the V 17.5, being Nokton it's bound to be superb.

But I still find for interiors it wouldn't be wide enough. I've always wanted a slightly wider lens than the 14-140, not to mention how slow it is.

It's funny how you can easily pay 3-4 times more for lenses than the little 'ole GH2!
