FS5: Is it worth it to hold out for Shogun Inferno, or just invest in 7Q+ instead?

Guess that is not a big deal if I'm considering a FS700, as it doesn't have slog3 anyway

Well if we understand correctly the Inferno bakes in the slog2 or 3 on the raw signal from SonyFs cameras. So you should be able to record slog3 on the Inferno with your Fs700. Currently on my Fs5 I'm recording internaly in Slog3 and on the Inferno in slog2.

What comes out of the Fs cameras is a Raw signal that hasn't yet got slog2 or 3 baked in.

Have you guys noticed that - with all those changes/additions the new firmware brings each time it's published - apart from very limited "Release Notes" - Atomos doesn't modify their User Manual at all? Frankly, it's disappointing; for instance I have no idea what "Secure Erase option" is or how to use it!

Also, along the 8.31 fw, Panasonic RAW to VLog Correction LUT package has been published but I'm not sure when to use them; the only info being:
"Atomos maintain the native Pana Raw LUT and do not convert to V-Log on the unit currently. To record V-Log the same as the camera does internally please apply the 3D LUT found here." Can anyone elaborate when to use them?

Piotr

PS. Just noticed the RAW part of the LUTs names - I guess with my GH5 they are irrelevant?
PPS: now confirmed by super-quick Dave of Atomos Support :)

Been testing the Inferno with v8.31 with FS700R and so far working great. First tested it with 8.0 and when running on batteries it would shut down trying to record 4K and wouldn't start back.
The 120fps 4K (4 sec burst) is fantastic. Looks like it also does continuous 2K 240fps.
Inferno is indeed a good name for it; it's hot.
Curious how it will do outside in the heat. Will be doing more testing as time goes on.
If it had 4K downconversion to ProRes HD like the 7Q+ that would be fantastic!
