***Is it still worth it to get a Canon 5D?

If you need it, then yes, it's worth it. If you don't need it, then no, it's not worth it. Sounds like you don't really need it since you're without one now and willing to wait for the next.

I bought one but haven't had a gig show up that could use it so I've kept it in the box unopened. If I get in a pinch, I bet it would sell quickly in the Marketplace here for the same price I bought it for. There's a decent wait to get one after you buy them...even a few months depending on the time of year.

I'm dying to try it out, but I learned my lesson. Don't want to sacrifice what I'll lose opening it just to give it a go LOL.
Ha ha I do the same thing! I have a few expensive tools still brand new in the box because the project hasnt yet come to be but that I wont open because I know I can recover more of the cost if I dont! Sucks because you wanna play with it, but thats the smart move to make.

Yea, we jumped the gun a little with purchasing the FS100...it's amazing, but we just don't shoot that much. 90% of work is post.

Looking for a DSLR if and when we need one..the main ones are 5D, GH2 or T3i..

Dito on that one, just sold off my FS100 and using Magic Lantern on the T2i and T3i, thinking about 5D as well to get that wider shot.

Personally, I like the direct (and simple) control of White Balance as well as White Balance Color Shift. It is a great way to color grade in-camera to avoid post, great for an independent such as myself.

The RGB color scheme on the Canon DSLR's just makes things more simple and condusive to run and gun, as opposed to the 3D Color Scheme of the FS100 which can slow down the shoot (i.e. more settings to adjust).
