Is it just me or is the 5D too sharp

I come from the world of 35mm adapters and i loved it, but the size and resolution of the 5D is too attractive for me to ignore. My question is, do the 5D's look sharper than most 35mm adapter kits, and is there a way to make it a little softer like a screw on filter? and is it just me who notices this or have other people?

Just lower the sharpness in the picture settings in the camera. I've shot some test footage and the 5DII is indeed very sharp when viewed on a 52" Samsung LCD TV.

have you tried lowering the sharpness and viewing it on that tv?
Anyone have any idea where there is some softer test footage?

the 5D & 7D are not that sharp really it is the in camera sharpening which makes local contrast seem so much precise while tests with charts reveal the real ugly moiré, aliasing issues...

lowering a few notches the sharpness setting does retain a smoother image. i cut footage from the 5D/7D to my Handy35 DOF adapter without much issues once colours and contrast are matched

my regular TV (576i) is showing me moire even when its not there,i paused the frame and compared frames there was absolutely no moire on my laptop screen but on TV ive seen moire , so dontr trust TV's that much.If you want you can resize it and add some blur then upscale, its quite easy to downgrade resolution of the footage. It might be too sharp because of fake detail made by aliasing like in video games.

Has lowering the sharpness helped reduced aliasing & moire any?
