Is it just me or is Canon looking like a lost cause?

Really Canon? You are looking like a lost cause now a days with your outrageous pricing! While others offer more for less, you offer less for more!!:( I wanted to buy a C300 or C100 but with Sony's pricing and RED lowing there prices, C300/C100 looks like a lost cause, am I wrong?

the c100 is not in the same ballpark as the f5 or f55.

the c300 was introduced sometime back, and the f5 is not yet released or priced. and won't be released for a few months. and the c300 will not cease to function when the f5 or f55 are released. it's still a small form factor, internal recording to a standard broadcast codec, uses small batteries that last for a while, great low light capabilities, has a lot of great features. and most importantly, produces crisp sharp images in clog.

We don't know Sony's pricing yet on the F5/55, so we can't really compare to Canon yet. However, if we assume that the F5/55 sells for the same or similar price as the C300/C500, then I agree the Sony appears to offer more for the money. However, there are still some differences between the two product lines: Canon uses standard CF media, has a native EF mount option, and has different camera body form factor. How much each of these matters depends on the individual.

With that said, if you feel Canon does not give you compelling reasons to buy their product, then by all means buy from a competitor. In a free market, this is the biggest statement you can make to a company! Hopefully Canon will offer more value in their second generation of Cinema EOS products, now that the market has become more competitive and they've had time to redesign their signal processing.
