I dont know what to set my Sony Vegas to; 24 fps, or 23.976 fps?

What does the T2i shoot at? It says 1080p - 24p, but sometimes its rounded to 24.

24p on the T2i is definitely 23.976 fps. This information is easily found.

FYI, 24p in the video world always refers to 23.976 fps. There might be a few camcorders that do 24.0, but 23.976 is the standard, just like 29.97 is.

The final output should be 23.976 or 29.97. However, while you're working you can work in 24fps or 30fps and convert it in the end. In addition to live footage, I work a lot with 3D which is always done in 24fps or 30fps.

So for most projects I work with those frame numbers (24,30) and do the final conversion at the end for broadcast specs (usually using After Effects).

However, I usually only do short format work (commercials and titles), so the audio sync is not an issue. But if you are doing long format work, the audio will probably go out of sync if you do the conversion at the end.

No they don't - it's 23.976 for pal cameras too. True 24fps would be a great firmware upgrade.

Too true it would. Thanks a bunch NTSC for a quick 'n dirty colour tv kludge, that's left eveyone with a damn stupid frame rate. :violent5:
At least PAL 25 fps is a true 25 fps 'cause PAL got it right in the first place.

23.97 and 29.97 might be standard but they are dinosaurs and just make things more complicated than they need to be. I wish they would get deprecated sooner rather than later.

And the sooner everyone goes digital so we don't need any godawful kludges, and the picture can at last use the full 0-254 of even miserable 8-bit transmission the better, then we can have real frame-rates with none of this drop-frame garbage.
