is Canon 24-105 f/4 fast enough for talking head interviews on C300???

You shouldn't be so dogmatic. I use both primes & zooms of varying focal length for interviews. 100mm isn't that long, often I'm at 200mm or more other times I might be at 11mm. It really depends on the shot.

Not being dogmatic at all, just answering the original question and saying that I've found myself using the 24-105 the most for interviews because it's so flexible. If using more than one camera I'll often use primes but as you say, it depends in the shot and the logistics.

Yes..it is easier if you are after "sterile images".
just use primes

I wonder how many talking heads have been shot with primes compared to zooms. And "sterile images" what´s that supposed to mean concerning prime vs. zoom lens?

Every time i put more effort and use primes i get much nicer, sharper looking shots.
I am sure there is more people driving Fords then Porsches.....does it make this Ford better car?
Now there are zooms and there are zooms. Angenieux 16-42 is a fantastic zoom. You get what you pay for. Canon 24-105 is in my oppinion not a very good lens. I own latest Canon zooms 24-70mm f2.8 mk2 and 70-200mm f2.8 mk2. Nice zooms but give me manual primes anytime. Far more Precise operation and better results. Then again that Angenieux 16-42 is a BEAUTY.

Also I'd like to see how far back you go with the 100mm macro on the C300, are you in the same building? ;)
TBH you made me think that perhaps I was wrong as in fact I have usually used the 100mm F/2.8L Macro on a full frame 5D & I hadn't allowed for the C300 crop sensor. However I just double checked by putting the 100mm F/2.8L Macro on my C300 & it gives me a nice head shot from about 3m/10' away. I would couple that with a wide B-camera.

Lensrentals.com has a list of tested parfocal still lenses

From lensrentals.com. The 24-105 isn't on this list and from shooting with it on a Panasonic camera it wasn't parfocal.

The following lenses are constant focus while zooming. If its not on this list, it is not parfocal.

Fair point, if you're looking for a C/U then why not. That 100mm is an interesting lens, quite different from all the other L's we have.

I'll be honest, the 24-105 is a pretty boring lens. Can't use it in low light, not wide enough to do anything creative on the wide end, and I find the bokeh pretty ugly. Its sharp but thats about it. Construction is good because its an L lens but i'm probably going to sell it and get something i'll actually use and be happy with. I'd go with the 24-70 if you're trying to do interviews personally.
