C300: Is Canon 1DC "Motion Jpeg" broadcast approved???

Not sure if this question was answered already, but is Canon 1DC's 4K Motion Jpeg broadcast approved???

I know for example that the BBC's minimum broadcast requirement is 50 Mbps, but never having used the 1DC I don't know the data rate of 4K Motion Jpeg.

Thank you in advance.

I believe that BBC requires a minimum of 100Mbps data-rate for intra-frame codecs (50Mpbs for inter-frame) and 4:2:2 color sampling for HD broadcast, so it should meet the requirements - at least, on paper. I'm certain the Beeb will run it's own testing to determine whether it makes the cut.

If the 1DC shoots at 4GB per minute, or 1GB every 15 seconds, wouldn't that mean that it shoots at a data rate 66 Mbps (1000/15 = 66.66)???

So if it is 66Mbps at 4K, is it then broadcast approved?

The 4k is recorded at 8bit 4:2:2 500Mbps, a 32GB card will only last ~8min.

OK I think I see my mistake. Megabyte (MB) being 8,000,000 bits and Megabit (Mb) being 1,000,000 bits.
So that would mean 500 (Mb) / 8 = 62.5 (MB) x 60 = 3,750 MB or 3.750 GB / min. Does that sound right?

In which case - 500 Mbps - has to be broadcast approved.

That sounds about right. I don't doubt it will be broadcast approved, but places like the BBC have to purchase one and then put it through a testing process before they okay it.
