Is 3D a passing fad, again?

Or people like me who've actually seen good 3D and think it's the future. I'm not that easily manipulated by 3D ads...
1. I work on movie trailers for a living so am a bit immune to the hype
2. I don't watch broadcast TV at all really

Yes- so how much do you like current 3D?

Most people who are connected with film/broadcast industry are not fans of 3D at all- they do it, because it's yet another way to make money, but most personal ooinions are rather sceptical.

I'm not against 3D technology itself, but don't see it being in "all homes" in current form. It also specific and not for every content. For me it's forced technology, just to have something new, so whole wheel can spin :)

I make the statement that if Avatar came out tomorrow in 3D it would sell a **** ton of copies and your response is that the studio producing Avatar will will use an Amazon trick to make it appear as so.
WHAT A JOKE!!!

Yes it will sell, because of many reasons. If won't there are ways to help it and it's used all the time and also mainly by big companies.

I'm in this business, so just advising you to have distance to things which you read on Internet pages :) I'm not saying don't buy neither- if you can afford and like it than there is no such a reason.

It will sell for ONE reason. There is (real) DEMAND for it. If you don't understand that simple fact, head on over to ebay where it is currently selling for $75 on up and has been for the past 2 years!

I couldn't help but notice that most of the reports from CES this year were about smart TVs, not 3D.
