Is 1080_30p possible?

I shoot a lot of 30p footage and rarely any 24p. I'm frustrated that I can't get more than 720 pixels at 30p. If the camera is recording 24p in 60i at 1080 why can't we hack it to either just record 60i w/o any 24p or, better yet, at true 30p?

Every other dslr out there shoots 30p at 1080. Heck, every other video camera does too.

Check out the Native 24p patch linked in my signature. It includes a 1920x720 MJPEG mode that records at 30p. With a normal, non-anamorphic lens, you can stretch these videos out to the correct 1920x1080 aspect ratio in post-production.

Mjpeg is not useful to me due to the recording limit. Every interview I've ever shot goes longer than 4 minutes.

A GH2 can be set to 80% slow-motion in 1080p AVCHD mode. This will actually record a 1080p30 video with metadata that marks its frame rate as 24fps. You can easily reinterpret the video's frame rate as the native 30p in a video editor.
