Iron Man 2

So we have all heard that the 7D was used in Iron Man 2. Can anyone tell me the specific scene?

Damn, I have seen it twice now and forgot to look for those shots.

It's a fun movie so I have no problem going to see it again, I'll look for them.

Probably interior suit scenes. That was what I heard originally... but unless someone was there we'll probably not find out for sure. At least not yet.

Well someone on this forum said they used their camera so perhaps that person could fill us in.

I believe it was the scene when he was leaving the expo at the beginning. The wide angle POV shot of him walking through the crowd signing autographs.

edit: to clarify I'm not saying that it was a 7d or 5d just that if one was used in the movie it would have been for that shot.

I hadn't heard of this. Anyone have a link to more info? Why did they use a 7D at all?

Hmmm....so this is how rumors get started...lol

All I know that it was reported about a year ago (just before the 7D came out) that Canon flew in some type of hybrid DSLR to the set for them to use...experiment with....whatever. Everyone assumed it was an early 24p version of the 5Dll...then after the 7D came out people assumed it was the 7D. Yes...someone in this forum (supposedly close to the set) did brig it up.

I hadn't heard anything beforehand, but that crossed my mind when I saw that scene, so I would guess the same thing. It looked a little fuzzy compared to the rest.

Anyway.. dug the movie. I'm a RD jr. fan anyway, and he and Sam Rockwell played such fun characters. It was cool to watch them be the "rich and powerful 10-year-old's" as they jockey for the top spot.

Fun fun fun.

Read in American Cinematographer the other day that the 5d was used as a crash cam in the scene with the indi cars.

Saw the movie tonight, enjoyed it thoroughly. Probably not Oscar Material, but great summer blockbuster fare.

I have a question about the cinematography though. In Scarlett J's fight scene at Hammer industries, the movement of the film changes. I would very much like to know how to get that off-speed effect. Does anyone know? And can it be done in post? I've got a scene in my current project that is BEGGING for that same look...

Thanks in advance.

I believe you are talking about ramping (speed ramping) which is only available on certain (expensive for the most part) cameras, I'm sure you could do it in post but you would be restricted by the frame rates you recorded in and wouldn't look very good.

Here's a tutorial on how to create the effect in AE: http://www.videocopilot.net/tutorials/speed_variation/

Another thing I noticed, looked like they were shooting at a faster shutter speed for her fight scenes. It had a staccato look.

Well your totally wrong about the Super 8 cameras being used lol. It was all CGI and nice film/HD looking ;) Not sure what you read but it wasn't right.

That's what I meant it was called super 8, not shot on super 8. It was way to cgi laden with the train crash and all...

Yeah the teaser for "super 8" was shot before actual production of the movie and the I'm pretty sure the story takes place through the view of a super 8 camera that some teenagers find. I would definitely say the movie was not shot on super 8...

Did anyone like J.J. Abrams trailer?

Yes, I sure did.

If I had to guess, I'd say it looks like he got Andrew Kramer to do the titles for the super 8 trailer.

Now the real reason I'm here....WTF isn't the Iron Man 2 thread at the top of the film discussion section with reviews? Has the whole world gone insane?
