At first, I thought it was just going to be the baby head inside the HUD (which there are thousands of on YT), but I was really really impressed with this. Great execution.

It's actually angering that so much skill and effort would be put toward such a silly concept.

I have to disagree. I don't know who these guys are, but they have talent. Why sit on talent when you can make something that will show off what you can do? I see so many people here saying, "Stop worrying about what camera you use, and go out and DO something." That's what they're doing. Something.

I didn't say they didn't have talent or that they should sit on it. In fact, my whole point was that the talent and skill was wasted on something so ridiculous.

Understandable. If this is all they could think up to make, then they should definitely go all out like they did. Now, if the options were this or something else, make something else. But maybe this was all they could think up. Either way, stupid concept or not, they did a great job with it, and I'm sure they learned something from it as well.

There's a number of good reasons why they could have done this.

One being that maybe they are already employed and wanted to do something for fun.
Maybe that kid you see is one of their kids, maybe their first one, and they were sitting around one night and someone said "hey, you know what we should do?" and started laughing.

I think that's all it was. Some guys in the biz with a new kid maybe and just doing something for fun that includes the kid.

Darn good job though at any rate.

Edit: Ahh, from the youtube site...

Look, I know I'm not supposed to say it out loud if I don't find something fascinating just because it involves a baby, but if this was done by pros, there's really nothing impressive about it. It's just someone dressing up their kid and showing you the pictures. :)

It's a great YouTube calling card for a number of reasons.

1) It's short.
2) It's to the point.
3) It's entertaining, funny and catchy.
4) It's based around something well known and popular, that a lot of people are currently googling and looking for.
5) Men will send this to their friends because it's got Iron Man. Women will send it to their friends because it's got a cute baby. Couples will send it to eachother.
6) It's got fast paced, upbeat music throughout and no dialogue.
7) VERY good special effects for something like this, which makes it seem impressive.
8) It had You guys talking and posting it.

I'm impressed. If these guys aren't already in the business, they will be proffessional and working soon. Just look at what happened to Neill Blomkamp.

If it were made as a calling card by someone trying to get into the business, then I would agree with all that.

Right.
And maybe that's all they intended it to be?

Either way, they are being creative and I got a kick out of it. :)

I think this is simply a fun video and maybe you're putting way too much thought into it. Like my friend who tried to over think Freddy versus Jason. I'm like, "Dude, do you know what movie you just watched. Magnolia it wasn't." LOL.

Actually, I just saw the guy from Montreal (who made this video) in an interview. He now has offers coming in from L.A. and has an agent. Judging by the interview and how they played up the fact that he made it almost entirely on his own... I would say that this was a smart move on his part. His daughter is the baby.

It was just a two man team and they decided to make it since Iron Man 2 was coming out.

Favreau saw it and gave them a "thumbs up".
Well over 3 million hits on YouTube the other day.
