Possible bad 4-pin connector in HVX

I think I may have done in my 4-pin connector on my HVX but I want to make sure.

Here's the deal, I'm getting the 1394 disconnect error every time I try to record to my FS 100. The cable connetors appear secure, the 6-pin connector appears secure and there is some play in the 4-pin connector to the camera.
Does anyone have any suggestions for making the connection snug again? Is it something that I need to talk with panasonic about? Has anyone else experienced this?

Thanks for your help!

A good way to check if a pin has been physically broken is to shin a bright flash light into the jack. You should see four copper pins in a row almost embedded in the black plastic part, any less and you wont have a working 1394 jack. :)

A lot of people have problems with the firewire connector on the HVX. Try holding the cable squarely in the connector and see if you can record.

Do a search. People have some pretty innovative ways to secure a good connection.

I've had two HVX200s that after 2 years have given up the ghost for both the FW pin connection and the headphone connection. We are not gentle operators. :-). They started going slowly then, no matter how much you twist and turn, they are gone. Anyway, that's why I got an extended warranty for all cameras. You never know what the Achilles heel is on rather new equipment and it seems like that particular interface (both headphone and FW inputs are apparently on the same board), is the one.
