Iris closing

I want to be able to turn the Iris ring so that I can go from the 9.5 stop to a "close" iris (when turning the iris handle left), without experiencing the pause between these stops.

Meaning, I want to be able to create a kind of smooth "Fade to Black" using the iris dial, but I keep getting the slight pause right before the iris closes completely.

I looked for ways to customize it but couldn't find any, does someone know of a way to make the iris close smoothly?
 
The electronic servos aren't as smooth as a mechanical ring. There is no middle ground between f/9.5 and Close.

Why couldn't you do it in post?
 
tom not sure what your exactly wanting to use this for, but a post fade to black will be much easier if thats all you need.

Yeah I know I can do it in post, but I was just experimenting shooting footage without using a computer....just a little personal project, Thanks guys
 
Shoot with a ND filter when you really don't need it, so that you go black at like, f5.
