here is an interesting solution from IntuitFocus for electro-mechanically pulling focus, zoom and presumably any other aspect of the lens that's controlled by mechanically rotating the appropriate "ring," like aperture. The website is still under construction, but Marko Butrakovic has been beta-testing the unit and has put together a nice demo vid . The comments say the unit is available in Germany at around 2,500 Euros, which is quite pricey, but it's arguably one of the cheaper components used in this demo rig.
