Intuitfocus HF-IF1 enables 'handsfree' follow-focus on DSLRs

In a sick kinda way, I hope it's a fortune. If the price is too good, I'll feel like a douche for spending as much as I did for the Cinevate follow focus and gears... lol

The saddest part is that you can buy a proper Bartech remote follow focus with a motor, and have the same industry-standard gear that's used around the world, for about the same price. If that thing were $300 or even $750, it might sell a few. But, costing as much as better designed, well-known, well-built systems, while not doing as much or being as nice to work with, is really a dealbreaker.

Yeah, when I saw that I felt the same thing. I'll just buy some servos myself and build one. I am SURE I can make one that is at least 1/10th the cost of that!

I was debating making one myself as well. A few servos and a drive shaft attached to my old follow focus could have me in business. Might be a fun project and i would have most of the expensive parts in my garage (servos and arduino).

Awesome. Yeah, I need to pick me up an arduino as well. I have a follow focus I might pull apart for this too.

If I get some more freetime (in the middle of shooting a bunch of stuff) I will update back here if I start anything! :)

I saw the post on engadget a day ago and the more i think over what i would need to make this thing work, i dont really think a processor like the arduino is required at all. It could all be done with servos and controllers i think.

I worked with some servo setups (for airplanes) about ten 19 years ago. If I recall correctly, you are right, you can do this without a bunch of other circuitry. Basically one servo provides feedback to the other on position.

Given the short throw range of some of my lenses, I would like to introduce some sort of gearing though possibly on the hand control unit. In addition, I think putting the ability to draw focus marks would be ideal as well.

Haha, damn! I am getting side focused to what I need to get done!!! :)

Holy bananas Batman! Are the crazy? You could be another camera! I wonder what the Redrock microREMOTE is gonna run?
