Introducing the P2 Mobile...

Well, for 3000 more you would get a red camera.

EDIT- Does the monitor have "the flip?" :)

Yeah and I can just see all those news gathering folks sitting in the back of their OB van trying to figure out how to edit their red footage, in camera, to make the 6pm news deadline:huh:

so no hard drive on that i'm guessing.
No, not built in, but it lets you connect external USB drives to it.

I guess we're going to find out who's naughty and who's nice. Personally, I expect to find a lump of coal instead of the P2 Mobile. :crybaby:

Nothing about this business is cheap, is it?

For networks that are used to shelling out tens of thousands to outfit an OB van with tape decks and vision swithers for in the field editing, I think they probably would consider this unit "very cheap".

Yeah, but this certainly is not for the on-the- budget indie is it?

I really wanted one of these, but probably will settle for the second hand Suzuki Mini-Van to transport my gear. With the spare change I'll probably get a second laptop with HD Rack.

EDIT- Of course this makes sense for the big broadcast channels or OB vans. But it certainly is not for the low budget indie. This gear is obviously a step back to the mini-dv revolution of production prices.

Its like the ridiculously expensive 5 slot P2 drive, or the P2 store. Panasonic announced a P2 reader with HD-SDI out and a small screen. I'm expecting this to go to the thousands, too.

But maybe this makes sense to the non- HVX (or non-indie filmmaker) p2 user.
